Re: Then and Now
If he's lost Newsweek, then he's lost America.

It does not take a Weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing.

Dang - now I might buy a copy.

What happened? Did someone fire Tina Brown?
Re: Then and Now
Nope, she is desperate.

Re: Then and Now
I thought this cover was EJHill doing his magical photoshop tricks.
Niall Ferguson allowed to take the lead story and give his opinion! Fareed must be upset.
I will have to buy it to find out if Niall thinks America can get back to leading the world. The 6 killer apps required to be a top civilization seemed threatened but this is an extraordinary turn of events.
I wonder how Barack feels with negative press? Usually it is Romney or Bachman. I was expecting a photo of Paul Ryan looking shadowy and tired.
I am in shock.

I don't necessarily feel any better when a lousy rag happens to agree with my point of view.

Re: Then and Now
Either Tina made a mistake and gave the cover story to someone who thinks for himself...or the Politburo has decided Obama must go.

Is this evidence that the Political Class is in crisis?
I'll need about thirty more pieces of such evidence.

Re: Then and Now
Newsweek is putting it on the line here. This cover may cost them their last 3 subsribers.

Re: Then and Now
Tina is trying to start selling enough mags that Newsweek won't have to be so thin it's blocked by the Higgs boson.

Re: Then and Now
Rush's theory is that much like when Clinton embarrassed and humiliated the liberal movement by getting himself impeached, progressives will cast Obama aside so they can maintain the illusion that it was the man and not the policies that was the problem. Obviously, nobody reads Newsweek, and glossy paper makes for bad bird-cage liner, so this is their attempt at plausible deniability: "See, we weren't in the tank for Obama after all, we called for his ouster!"

Re: Then and Now
They cast Clinton aside? Is that why he's introducing BO at the convention? I seem to remember a stand despite the facts attitude.

Re: Then and Now
Maybe it's not Newsweek - BHO's head is blocking the title. Perhaps the debut issue of Neoconweek? Either that or Delta Force broke into the Newsweek offices and "adjusted" the cover story.

Re: Then and Now
Serious question to Dr. Rahe and fellow posters. Have you noticed a recent shift in the media (this cover obviosuly being a nuclear bomb). I mean, even Andrea Mitchell was visibly upset with DWS over the lack of Obama pressers and soft media access. Wolff Blitzer basically pounded DWS over the whole Ryan Mediscare issue until she finally agreed (after 3 min) that current seniors aren't affected. Matt Lauer called out another Obama lackey on the tone Obama has used even quoting Obama's actual words (something we've never seen with Obama in the past).
Is it just me and my rose-color glasses, or is the media actually starting to treat Obama like a human who can be questioned? If so, do yout think this will get even more pronounced in the coming weeks?

We should get Mickey Kaus on the main podcast to comment on this.
