The Young Guns return this week with a rollicking edition that tackles the deficit negotiations as seen from a group who may likely never receive entitlements benefits, who was Wu, the debut of the "Culture Shock of The Week," and another edition of their world famous "Heroes and Villains" segment. The Young Guns are Troy Senik, Meghan Clyne, Keith Urbahn, and Diane Ellis.

I think all of the participants in the sex scandal discussion early on in this podcast need to read this Dennis Prager column.  And are there not studies abound saying that in the general population women cheat just as often as men?

Paul Stinchfield: How about changing the mp3 tags for these podcasts?

All your other podcasts are tagged artist = Ricochet.com. · Aug 1 at 8:28am

I will look into that. Did not know this one was being tagged differently. Thanks for the heads up.

Troy Senik

We have ways of making you talk, Keith. Unfortunately most of them involve giving away Twinkies ... I really need to hire some new interrogators.

Keith Urbahn:  And then there are the other things Troy makes me do...

Grantman: I tried to listen to the first Young Guns but one of the guys (I don't remember his name) is so young, his verbal tic "you know" got in the way of listening.  I thought I was listening to a high-schooler, not a college grad.

I'll give this one a try but if there are still too many "you knows", send him off to pundit school until he can speak without saying "you know" you know? · Jul 30 at 6:18am

Young Guns, I think Diane in particular, the whole social security medicare yelping thing is making me mad, especially from those as old as my kids.. Just to clarify, my Father who is 75 is getting the great deal, pulling out much more than he ever paid in. His Son, me, who is 55, between personal and employer contributions, has paid in over $250,000 to date.  Assign a 3 -5% return on that money over 35 years that amount today would be at least double.. I still have 11 years to go. Same for Medicare, due to the lack of the cap, My employer and I have put in over $135,000 between us. Assign a 3-5% return on that money, and that is a lot of hip replacements. Let's keep perspective on who is paying what please.

I agree. Diane, I will likely be means-tested out of receiving any benefits.

I thought the entire episode had a tone of whiny "entitledness". I typically agree with Diane. I washed dishes in a seafood joint while I was in medical school. Insulting.

I hope you change your podcast name from Young Guns to something else. I have a difficult time taking the podcast seriously.

One of the speakers described Google as selling out in China. While I have many problems with Google's policies, I believe that she got it backwards. Google had been allowing the Chinese government to censor their search results, but recently they stopped playing that game and were shut out by the mainland Chinese censors entirely as a result.

Instead I think the companies that deserve to be shamed here are the telecom equipment makers that have helped build the Great Firewall of China, such as (according to this report) Cisco. I believe that companies like this will in the long run be condemned by history as was IBM for its behavior during World War II.
