The Young Guns return this week with a rollicking edition that tackles the deficit negotiations as seen from a group who may likely never receive entitlements benefits, who was Wu, the debut of the "Culture Shock of The Week," and another edition of their world famous "Heroes and Villains" segment. The Young Guns are Troy Senik, Meghan Clyne, Keith Urbahn, and Diane Ellis.

Too many Yalies on last Young Guns podcast. At the very least we need a proper Princetonian. Or better yet, add some non-Ivy Leaguers!

Great podcast. As an old f_ _ _, their ideas and opinions give me hope.
And, as they say, the name of the game in negotiation is "Offers, counteroffers, not offers offers"... (Then to be castigated by O on top of that is a bit way too much.

The Buzz Aldrin vs. conspiracy theorist story is a little more complicated than described. The conspiracy theorist (a fairly well-known one, Sibrel) got up in Aldrin's face, called him a liar and a fraud, and told him to swear on a Bible that the Moon landing wasn't faked, shoving it at him aggressively. Aldrin (who is a religious man) socked him in the jaw. Aldrin then went about his business and left, and Sibrel called the cops. No charges were filed because witnesses and the police agreed that it was self-defense.

I tried to listen to the first Young Guns but one of the guys (I don't remember his name) is so young, his verbal tic "you know" got in the way of listening. I thought I was listening to a high-schooler, not a college grad.
I'll give this one a try but if there are still too many "you knows", send him off to pundit school until he can speak without saying "you know" you know?

It just feels off to listen to a conversation among young people that isn't filled with emotional tripe and the NYT/DNC talking points. Good stuff though. I've already quoted Troy's comments about Oregon to a friend.

I dunno - Lord knows I trash on my home state on a very regular basis, but it sort of grates when some foreigner starts mouthing off about it. Kind of like a Frenchman coming to the US and bad mouthing us - what he says may be absolutely true, but it's really none of his business.

Very enjoyable episode. About social medial, I think the point needs to be made that twitter is different and much more potentially subversive in the developing world because it is text message based; it doesn't require fancy, expensive smart phones. Yes, texting can still be turned off by the government, but still...

Grantman - Troy Senik is overseeing my reeducation at an undisclosed location. I can report that for the past two weeks I have been required to write "I will not say 'um' or 'you know' in Ricochet podcasts" over and over again on the blackboard for three hours each day. And then there are the other things Troy makes me do...
