If I were trying to sabotage Barack Obama's chances at winning his 2012 reelection bid, this is what I'd advise him:

Whatever happens November 2, don’t move to the center. Push even harder for what you believe in.

Incidentally, that's exactly what Berkeley professor and former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich advises. And why shouldn't Obama move to the center? Well, because the president and the Democrats really shouldn't take the upcoming lashing at the polls personally, Reich explains. The impending bloodbath? Business as usual:

By the first midterm the public is almost always grouchy because the president wasn’t a messiah and didn’t change the world....

Presidents’ parties always lose the first midterm elections because the president isn’t on the ticket, and the opposing party has had time to regroup and refuel...

The economy trumps everything else, even though presidents aren’t really responsible for it. So when it’s bad -- as it was during the first midterms of Carter, Reagan and Clinton -- voters penalize the president’s party even more than usual...

This is very possibly the worst advice anyone could give President Obama. Perhaps Robert Reich has ulterior motives.

More speeches, especially in prime time. That'll turn it around.

A few days ago American Thinker presented a story with an audio link featuring someone who knew Obama in college. According to this source Obama described himself as a Marxist-Leninist. If this is true then what we are seeing is the Leninist tactic of reducing the number of cadres while augmenting their revolutionary ardor. Not more, better. I'm inclined to believe this. Obama is no ordinary liberal. He's a revolutionary attempting a putsch from within.

Wait, are you saying that Robert Reich is short?

Since this is what Obama will do anyway, I don't think we can blame Reich for the ensuing higgeldy-piggeldy (that means "a real mess").

He should continually remind the American people how stupid they are until they see the error of their ways and repent. That should turns things around...

It is touching to see that Democrats like Reich are still kidding themselves that Obama is on the right course. November 3rd will tell us if the rest of the country shares their delusion.

Plus, he really needs to splain that health care bill to us 40 or 50 more times, always taking care of course, to have no idea whats in it. That did it for me. And, oh, being really thin skinned is a real turn on too.

Actually, what he does next will be somewhat interesting. These first two years, he largely abdicated the legislative initiative and priorities to Pelosi and Reid. Without them to turn to, what will he do? Cloister himself further?

Oh, Diane, totally OT, but figgered I'd ask the original Logo-girl (is that your Halloween costume?).

Will there be a live-blog of the election here? I'll bring the hooch.

Did anyone catch Obama urging Hispanics to vote, h/t gatewaypundit.firstthings.com, so they can "punish" their "enemies" and... "reward" their "friends?" Would Robert Reich consider this working hard enough for the things Obama believes in or should he try harder yet? Is that post-racial, non-partisan enough?

Obama, Rahm, Reichchchchchchchchchchca, and Teleprompter should hit the links and not come back until after the election.

Robert Reich is the guy on the Hindenburg asking for the extra long set of matches.

Wow, that's actually a great idea for a Halloween costume.

And yes, there will be live-blogging of the election here at Ricochet. Get excited.

Will it crash every 10 minutes like NRO usually does during an election?

Post- haste: Ah sorry. Little bit of bittnerness at the fact the Canadian dollar is not yet at par.

I can give much good advice to Obama, knowing that he will dismiss me as an idiot and racist while he tightens the knot around his own throat and kicks at the flanks of the horse he sits upon.  Sergio Leone, phone your office.

Gimli offers poor advice to be sure. But I think the worst advice would be to keep on keepin' on.
