The Video From The Cab
In his most recent podcast, Dave Carter described his new truck in great and humorous detail. But that wasn't enough for me and his legions of fans -- we wanted to see it. So for weeks, I've been bugging Dave to use that fancy phone of his to give us a video tour (as if he doesn't have anything better to do). Yesterday the video finally appeared along with this note from Dave:
"After no less than 10 minutes of careful analysis, I've concluded that the person who first coined the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words," was just trying to weasel out of a writing assignment. But I'm not above adding to his evasions by saying that a video must be worth at least three thousand more words. So please consider the following video tour of my new truck as a temporary substitute for the more substantial post I have been meaning to write for the last several days. Besides, there are enough people who have expressed interest,….even a touch of occasional envy at the thought being a long haul truck driver, to give me hope that you might find this guided tour of some interest. So c'mon in, won't you? I just dusted the place."
Thanks, Dave. Now the next time you're in Southern California, I want to drive the beast.

Re: The Video From The Cab
That is cool! If you are stuck driving all the time (when we take a trip, Rubber Duckie drives the first 14 hours each day, than I pitch in), this is the way to do it.
But I'm glad that there are people who live this life so I don't have to.

Hold up a sec. You mean there's another way to live?

My name suggestion: The Great Pumpkin.
Thanks for the tour, Dave. I have another friend who is a long haul trucker. Your video brought back memories of a real time tour of his rig. It's amazing how many of the comforts of home can be squeezed into those things.

Sitting here trying to force myself to do taxes (they don't know how to spend our money!) and using Ricochet as a wonderful diversion. But I couldn't have anticipated your tour this afternoon -- what a lovely thing to find and thank you so much! Felt like a mini vacation, and I have always been fascinated by big trucks. Really cool for a tax-avoidance afternoon in gorgeous sunny Savannah! Happy Easter to you.

Best concert I ever saw was KISS with Nugent opening. I think my ears are still ringing.

Re: The Video From The Cab
How long does a TV last in one of those? A lot of bumps in the road.
I used to have one of those little gator heads, but a dog ate it.

The last two TVs lasted a two-three years. This is the first flat screen one I've tried, so we'll see how it holds up. I've had it about four months now.

Thanks Dave. You know any time the rest of us Rococheteers see a new orange Schneider National truck we're going to be checking to see if it's "our" Dave driving.
Be safe. Happy Easter.
Re: The Video From The Cab
Is Shell Beach accessible by big rigs? That's the number one problem I encounter when trying to visit various places.

Roll down your window and listen. If you hear Mozart, Bach, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, or Ted Nugent, it's probably me. That should narrow it down a bit, eh?
