Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
Peter, this is off-topic, but we need a wall built down on the border.
You being the expert on speeches having to do with walls, what words would you craft for a Republican presidential candidate?

Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
Ritual expressions of distaste for The Donald.
That said, the 2012 presidential campaign is going to be, metaphorically, bloody hand-to-hand mortal combat.
We need somebody who's ready to sharpen up the trench knife, go over the top into No Man's Land, and take the fight to the other guy. In addition to Trump, which of the other Republican candiates fill this requirement of the job description?

Kenneth, as a life long border state resident, I agree the issue is of paramount importance. What role do you see immigration and border security realistically playing in the upcoming race? Do you see the violence on the Mexican side of the border becoming an issue of serious debate?

Lance, I don't see it playing an important role in the race unless the GOP is smart enough, courageous enough and eloquent enough to explain to the American people that it's a matter of national survival. I don't think the violence will be an issue, though, outside of state races in the border states.
We discussed this on this post earlier in the week.

Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
I used to watch letterman before he went over to the dark side and he would play Trump or monkey. A game where a person was shown a picture covered except for the top edge of the forehead with hair . The person had to guess whether it was a picture of the Donald or an orangutan. The picture was uncovered to reveal one or the other. It was very hard to tell the difference. If Trump runs this game could replace the Republican debates. Just have each candidate guess Trump or monkey.

You're welcome. And apologies for the snark the other day. I was grumpy.

Um, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann?
My admiration for Trump is growing - he was masterful in how he handled the Press today - I am not sure any real Conservative comes close - it's a little scary.
This race is going to become more and more bizarre, I think - nobody could write the script, not even Rino-squish Rob.

Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
Thanks, Kenneth. But there is no need to apologize. As I have said elsewhere, it was a thought provoking comment. To say that your opinion is respected by many would be an understatement. You speak of what you know and provide a voice for that knowledge. I think I am trying to emulate that to a degree. My voice may come across as less serious, but it's no less sincere.

Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
I was never, and am not now, a Trump fan. Still, I think Republicans are being too hard on the guy. He's entered the fray for clearly limited purposes, and is doing a fantastic job at fulfilling them. He's getting the stuff done that needs doing though no serious candidate should touch it, and leaving clear territory for the rest of the field. He's just sprung one rather large trap, and there's four or five of these to go before he's done. Though he'll likely have shot his political capital to heck he'll certainly exit well ahead of the game in terms of exposure, a good investment of his time, and I wish him well in his new season, though I'm unlikely to watch any of it. It's a free world, he's deftly playing the game ... and winning, as usual. I hope there's enough grace among republican movers and shakers to acknowledge, and maybe even publicy appreciate, his contribution.

R. Craigen - I agreed until about yesterday. I now think he is gonna run, all the way if he can.

Re: "The Tornado of Hair and Noise
This is probably shallow, I know. But I've always wondered how anyone can trust the judgment of someone with that coiffure? Is it too much to ask for a president who can face reality?
