The Soft Tyranny of ObamaCare Turns Hard
On Friday afternoon, the Obama administration released an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to announce it was proceeding as planned with its new federal mandate that abortion pills, sterilization procedures, and contraception must be provided without co-pays under virtually all health care plans.
The mandate will force almost all employer-provided health care plans, including those purchased by employers and employees who object on moral or religious grounds to paying for these services, to pay for abortifacients, contraception, and sterilizations by August 2012.
The mandate will force religious institutions--such as charities, universities, and hospitals--to provide these services by August 2013. As Cardinal Timothy Dolan said when the Obama administration announced the rule in January, "In effect, the president is saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences."
Time in which to figure out how to violate our consciences--or how to remove President Obama from office.
ObamaCare delenda est.

Re: The Soft Tyranny of ObamaCare Turns Hard
Peter,
On this turns the souls of many. Obama and his Obamites are tone deaf to Morality itself. No need to ask if Gd is important in their lives. Gd is a triviality to them. The screaming hate filled Jeremiah Wright should have made it clear enough to Americans that they were dealing with something evil.
Now is the time that all people of good conscience should speak out in defense of the Catholic Right to be Catholic. Just as every other honest Religious person hopes that when his Faith is on the line that others will come to his support.
Regards,
Jim

Maybe Obama would like to bring back the poll tax too. But for the special benefit of faithful Catholics, the tax has to be paid in condom gift certificates. If you don't vote, you don't have to pay, so it's perfectly fair. Kathleen Sebelius would surely endorse it.

Re: The Soft Tyranny of ObamaCare Turns Hard
How convenient that the Obama Administration would delay the really controversial part until after the election. Not quite a profile in courage...
Of course since the cat is out of the bag, it will be a big election issue anyhow...

So the evil Catholic war on women has been won. And Obama was the man at the barricades. What a guy.

Re: The Soft Tyranny of ObamaCare Turns Hard
This is why the Left continually pushes and pushes. They know we will eventually back down. "In effect, the president is saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences." Why? Why is trying to comply even an option? This country was founded when people went to war over the principle of a tax (that amounted to cents) being unjust. If this edict violates our consciences, complicity should not be an option. What is it going to take to get us to say "Enough!" and stand up for our rights and liberty?

Re: The Soft Tyranny of ObamaCare Turns Hard
Peter I appreciate the sentiment. But I would like to add that the tyranny has been here for some time. The degree can be debated.
The bond holders from the GM deal felt it. The ones who've lost their jobs in the Gulf oil patch and the in the West Virginia coal mines have felt it.
Tyranny reigns with Obama. Trickle up poverty and worse.

Would be nice if there was a way for all Catholic hospitals to close for a day in protest.

The Republican Base isn't excited about it's candidates. The Left isn't excited about Obama either.
The only excitement is coming from those who want to see Obama removed from office.

Someone show Me a single solitary "American" Teacher within the last 70 years Who taught how to make a cursive "B" like that. Conspiracy? I'm just sayin'. That "B" ain't Native-American.

All Catholics not working in emergency services could strike. And Jews and other Christians could join them.
In fact, now that I think of it, not a bad idea. I wonder who might be able to organize such a thing.

For starters, refusing to comply. Let's see how the Left reacts when we don't roll over for once.
