The Smartest 10-Year Old in the Room?
So for months now my family has heard me reference and talk about Ricochet every time I visited home. Apparently I made it sound like a lot of fun because my ten year old sister started asking me if she could listen to the podcast. Yesterday I gave her the podcast from a couple of weeks ago with Jonah Goldberg and she told me she listened to the whole thing.
Then this morning the following conversation took place:
Sister: So did you read the thing about unemployment?
Me: Yeaahhh.... Did you?
Sister: Yeah, it was the first thing on the feed.
I guess I won’t have to worry about liberals brainwashing her in the future. If she keeps this up, she’ll be able to hold her own.
Does anyone else have any younger siblings or kids that have expressed an interest in Ricochet or do they merely roll their eyes at your obsession?

In my case, my twenty-something son told me a couple of years ago that Peter Robinson and Rob Long had a new podcast (also featuring some guy named Steyn). I jumped in at Podcast no. 3 (think of it as the "gateway drug") and have been hooked ever since.
My son is saving money for grad school and has never joined Ricochet, but he looks at the main feed everyday. So I can talk with him without reserve.
I do tend to get eye rolls when I tell other members of the family what Mama Toad said today on Ricochet. Can't understand why.
The whole family is conservative, but most of them aren't quite as interested in talking about it all day (in other words, unlike me, they have lives).
I will say this: Ricochet is a "cool" way to be conservative.

My oldest (12) has shown interest in some of the cultural topics here. She can hold her own politically against her teachers, which is a good thing. Of course, she's hitting that age when nothing I say is right, but the seeds were planted early and will bear fruit when she matures.

They ignore me here because it's mostly at work or after they're in bed. I have a gaggle of Rush babies though.

TS are you aware Ricochet is fee for thoses with a college email address. You just need to send your Son an invite.Smp16. Fred, my siblings, too, are pinkos -- but my 4 kids and their spouses are all conservatives. Major success.

This is excellent! And a reminder of why the CoC is so essential — we have kids in our midst.
My 12 year old brother visits Ricochet. And out of allegiance to me (I'm sure he'd rather play video games) he listens to the "Young Guns" podcast.

I didn't realize how much I talked about Ricochet to husband until recently. Even though we have young kids, we occasionally discuss politics/policy and current events with them present, usually during dinner. I don't even remember what the topic of conversation was, but I was fuming over some issue, and my 6 year old said, "Mommy, you better post something on Ricochet about that!"

My 12-year-old daughter gives me suggestions for Ricochet posts, as she knows how much I love to spend time here. But she doesn't quite have the feel for the type of topic that would work with the Ricochet audience. "You should write about that on Ricochet, Mom," she'll say.
She has her political views, too, but right now she's more echoing what she's heard than communicating her own substantive points. She seems to be shaping up into a strong conservative, though. Oh, yes, how could I forget--she spends lots of time reading Medved's Ten Big Lies About America.
She'll read some of my posts, but she doesn't always get into them or understand them.
My younger daughter, ten, wants to please me and be conservative, but starts to get worried. "Mom, I'm afraid I'm a Democrat!"
"Why?" I say.
"Because I think we should give money to the poor."
Then I have to explain again.

My almost-10-year-old daughter says she would join Ricochet if there were other kids on it. I think it would be a great idea to have a Ricochet-kids page. Someone wrote that her 5th-grade son was a committed conservative, which made me think that I have only about a year to get my daughter up to speed.

16 year old daughter asks to listen to Ricochet podcast on long car drives. 5 year old daughter thinks it's "boring" but likes Dave Ramsey & Dennis Prager.

My 12 year old daughter likes the podcasts, but she really got hooked listening to Radio Derb at NRO. She used to try to discuss politics with my mother-in-law who is stereotypically liberal, but Nana wouldn't engage the arguments, just say that 10-12 year olds really don't have any experience and shouldn't try to talk about such things. My wife and I had to counsel her not to challenge Nana's political beliefs - it's not fair to attack feelings with logic.
