The Real Paul Ryan Story
Contrary to popular myth, Rep. Paul Ryan is a conservative representing a mixed district. (It went for Barack Obama in 2008, but George W. Bush in 2004.) So I was a bit concerned when the media ran with a story about him getting booed in his own district.
But Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack has been following Ryan in his home district through a series of town halls this week. He's shown photos of gigantic groups of protesters greeting Ryan at each stop. These gigantic groups range from crowds of one person to crowds of three people.
And the video above shows that even in that mixed district with many non-conservatives, Ryan received a standing ovation at a sizeable town hall. And of the nine questions asked during the open Q&A, only one was about his proposal to reform Medicare. You probably won't be seeing that on the nightly news, however.

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
Thank you Lord and Mollie Hemingway. This is the best news I've heard in a while.
It's like the legacy press wants us to believe fiscal and monetary sanity are deeply unpopular. Why might that be?
The Democrats are convinced their little project will come to an end if we stop the Keynes fest. They're going to prime that pump at all costs, certain that Republican demands for budgetary restraint are an effort to keep the economy down through 2012. Ironically, the only way the economy recovers in time for the next election is if we adopt conservative policies. Ryan's medicine may be the onl y cure for what ails Obama.
Every prediction that 2012 is Obama's to lose presupposes a reasonable recovery over the next 18 months. Keep going the way we currently are and the more likely scenario includes discovery of the high potential energy end of a cliff. Creating conditions that re-elect Obama is the lesser of evils.

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
This just made my day. Ryan is making the arguments of fact and definition and by doing so is able make the further and more difficult argument on the basis of policy. But please don't run for President yet, make this a two-front engagement with the laser like fiscal argument on the one hand (Ryan) and the policy issues of the last 4 years on the other (GOP candidate).

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
The media knows the essence of strategy: you base your decision on what you expect others to do. Therefore, the media slant is to display opposition and hide support. It's to control the bandwagon.

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
Is it dawning on the country that the mainstream, or legacy, media is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, and is it being taken less and less seriously as a result?
I hope so, but worry that we as a trusting people with our own lives to live still assume that what is presented to us is true, to the MSM's advantage in shaping the narrative.

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
Paul Ryan should be high up on the list of REP presidential candidates. He is clear and articulate. Furthermore, and most importantly, he is intelligent without being an intellectual as defined by Dr. Sowell.

Did I mention that Paul Ryan should run for President?
From the ridiculous to the sublime :-)

Re: The Real Paul Ryan Story
Listening to the podcast this morning was a little frustrating. Andy said that Mitch Daniels was no good as a candidate because he is short, not charismatic, and has hair loss. Then he said Paul Ryan was no good because he's too young. So which is it? It seems to me that a young, good looking family man who knows how to articulate the narrative in a way that even the 20% crowd understands is exactly the man for the job.
