As Pejman notes below, Mitt Romney is still very much in the race in Pennsylvania. And if this new ad -- the opening seconds of which strike me as brutally effective -- is any indication, it looks like Team Romney is out for blood:

Romney has made a run in the last few days in PA but he is still behind in all the polls by 3-6% points.   I don't know why his campaign is even bothering with PA.   If he wins or is close there, he will then have easily won OH and maybe WI so winning PA would be moot.  He should focus on OH, if the race comes down to a couple states OH will be one of them not PA.

Is PM someone from Axlerod's office?  He's sure acting like it.

Well, Ed Gillespie, et al, who have actually run elections before, and have all of the detailed polling data, are paid to make those decisions, Pig Man.  And I am sure that a) they have better information than you do, b) know what they are doing, and c) have a plan.

If they are wrong, you can crow.

It remains to be seen how far states swing on election day.  If Romney has the resources to expand the map this way, God Bless him and go for it.  Every campaign has states that are marginal but still targets, and you cannot win them unless you contest them.  I trust Romney to marshall his resources and use them effectively, and there is no evidence that he is neglecting Ohio.

Romney has the money, he should contest PA, MN, OH and WI. If nothing else make Obama waste time and money in these states. Obama is on defense in all these states, they all voted for him last year.

I agree that Romney should try to win big if that is a possible outcome.  There is a lot less of a chance that Democrats will try to "de-legitimize" his election if he has 300+ EV's than if he has 271.

It's a good business decision. If you have the money for the advertising, and think you might succeed in a given market, it's a reasonable risk to run some ads.

I guess the thinking is that it will force Obama to divert some money toward PA. But if PA is close, the contest is over anyway.   I hope the O team doesn't fall for that trap.

Mr Romney should try to win all 57 States.

The problem Republicans always have in Pennsylvania is with Philadelphia and its suburbs.  This ad will be effective in the rest of Pennsylvania though.

Nothing wrong with spending the money if you have it. They are campaign contributions. Other than whatever money you might need for afterwards (I have no idea what the costs are like for closing down a campaign, for instance), why save any of it?

It's not like you can use it at a later date.

Driving around Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley (Eastern PA) the last two weeks, the Romney/Obama sign ratio has been at least 25:1.

Checking his scheduled appearances, Romney is in saturation mode in Ohio. My hypothesis is he's reached diminishing returns there, and since he has the money he's reaching into other places.

Superb advertising.  Romney guves the plan to encourage coal as well as other energy.

Obama is clear too.

The wife and I are hoping for a visit from Romney/Ryan here in Minnesota this week.  We would definitely attend!

Hey Frozen, according to their campaign calendars on Politico, Ryan will be in Eau Claire tomorrow morning. If memory serves, that is maybe an hour & fifteen, hour-and-a-half from the Twins.

I didn't see anything in MN.
