On Twitter, David Burge (Iowahawk) provides a summary of Obama's Kansas speech:  "The only thing we have to fear is a big stick tearing down this wall divided against itself."  Note the indirect tribute to Peter Robinson.  Burge is one of the funniest, and currently most underrated, political commentators in America.

You mean, other than Mr Obama's 999 other speeches?

Marx said all this long ago.

It felt as though the speech were written by a committee of machines who don't understand inflection, emotion or rhetoric.  The bloom is off the President's rose but even so this was a very disappointing performance.

According to Obama, just thank Allah that he's been here to guide the economy. Otherwise, the scourge of capitalism might raise it's ugly head again and produce inequalities of outcome. Reelect him, and you'll be saved from seeing others move ahead of you economically, just because they're smart or ambitious. We can't have that.

Wow that's funny.

Please democrats, pay no attention to the team of speechwriters behind the curtain.

I often listen to NPR's All Things Considered -- last night they had some bloviating ninny going on about how this speech was a chance to see the big picture, to understand the President's over-arching vision of the economy, or, as they described it, "to see the forest rather than the trees" of his economic policy. Of course I had to change the station to avoid driving off the road in a fit of hysterical laughter.

Iowahawk (Dave Burge) is a comic genius.  He is the only person whose Twitter feed is actually worth reading.  He is apparently not a comedian by preofession, though I don't know why.  What I wouldn't give to possess 1% of his wit.

All I know for certain is that while some of my neighbors were becoming millionaires and billionaires during the long-ago Silicon Valley tech boom, I was also making more money.  Funny, their success did not make me worse off.  Instead, it seems that the same environment that led to their success also benefited me, my family, and my other neighbors.

Ah, forget all that.  Now that I no longer have a "fair shot" at mega-success, I'll rely on the most gracious Barack Obama to pay my mortgage and my children's college tuition.  Plus, he's promising me $1,000 by raiding my social security "trust fund" next year (never mind the $800 marriage penalty coming back--"Hey, honey, let's get divorced!").

Can't you just feel the economic recovery that lies, waiting, just around the corner?

It is not fair how funny Iowahawk is.

Thank goodness he made this speech in Texas, this might be the boost to get Rick Perry back to where he needs to be in Saskatchewan primaries.

Iowahawk (Burge) is nothing short of brilliant. He, Bill Whittle, and Scott Ott are my favorite conservative satirists.

Burge also has an autobody shop and is a talented gearhead.

Darn near makes him perfect.

I fear for the day that Rubber Duckie decides that the returning marriage penalty makes it no longer worth her while to share her income with me.....

And the world hasn't fully realized their genius yet.  I wish there was some sort of stock market where I could invest in them.

I've been reading Iowahawk for several years.  It seems to me that he said quite a while back that he was doing some writing for televison.  He didn't elaborate, so I don't know if it was a one-time shot at a pilot, or what.
