Today is one of those days when I get confirmation that complaints of left-wing media bias are real and not a talking point.

After lone crazy Jared Loughner made his attack in Tucson, you'll recall the gut-flipping attempt by the left in politics and media to turn him into a right-winger and score political points calling for civility in political discourse.

Their repulsive opportunism was revealed when Loughner turned out to be neither politically right nor left.  Just demented.

We've seen that act before. Left-wing comrades in politics and media tried to immediately blame the right for Andrew Stack who flew his airplane into the IRS building in Texas and James Von Brunn who murdered at the Holocaust Museum in DC.  After it was revealed from their writings that each was a left-wing political adherent, media fell silent.

With egg on their face over Loughner, the left promised that the Tucson murders would usher in a new day of civility anyway (which I felt was nothing more then a pretext to continuing the false allegation that the right owns Loughner).

Ok - so let's see how that civility promise is going on the left, and if media is covering the broken promise.   Raise your hand if you have seen a report in the mainstream media about police in Wisconsin investigating this email, sent to Republicans there:

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes
will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain
to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it
will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit
that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for
more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.
WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in
the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me
have decided that we've had enough. We feel that you and the people that
support the dictator have to die. We have tried many other ways of dealing
with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand
for it any longer. So, this is how it's going to happen: I as well as many
others know where you and your family live, it's a matter of public records.
We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a
nice little bullet in your head. However, we decided that we wouldn't leave
it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the
message to you since you are so "high" on Koch and have decided that you are
now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a
demorcratic process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed
in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent.
This includes, your house, your car, the state capitol, and well I won't
tell you all of them because that's just no fun. Since we know that you are
not smart enough to figure out why this is happening to you we have decided
to make it perfectly clear to you. If you and your goonies feel that it's
necessary to strip the rights of 300,000 people and ruin their lives, making
them unable to feed, clothe, and provide the necessities to their families
and themselves then We Will "get rid of" (in which I mean kill) you. Please
understand that this does not include the heroic Rep. Senator that risked
everything to go aganist what you and your goonies wanted him to do. We feel
that it's worth our lives to do this, because we would be saving the lives
of 300,000 people. Please make your peace with God as soon as possible and
say goodbye to your loved ones we will not wait any longer. YOU WILL DIE!!!!

Wow.

Imagine this threat to a left-wing Dem. The outrage would be everywhere.

This is why I fear for the future of the Republic. One side simply does not believe in the Republic, or its processes. The left no longer cares about any thing but their will to power. Lose the vote? No problem, use thugs to bully your way into power. This is no different than the mob.

The last Congress went two years with no debate in the House. That is what the left does when it is in power. The DOJ ignores threats to whites. The FCC is moving to regulate political speech it does not like. If you are part of the political elite, you only play taxes if you get caught, and if you get caught, you just pay it back, not go to prison like the rest of us.

How do we get back to a functioning republic? I know of a Republic where the elites became corrupt on the backs of the people. Eventually the people demanded a savior, and got one. The Political class then murdered him and set off another decade of civil war. Is that our future?

This is deplorable stuff. But on both sides of the political spectrum, we'll find nuts who'll write c--p like this. Until it's shown that this thing came from someone in a position of "authority" on the left, such screeds should be taken as from the fringe. Neither side can control their crazies. Here in NM the battle over driver's licenses is being fought in the legislature. Both sides are receiving death threats. OTOH, the lefties have shown themselves to be uncivil in a myriad of ways since Tucson.

The Right:

"All government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public-personnel management. The very nature and purposes of government make it impossible for administrative officials to represent fully or to bind the employer in mutual discussions with government employee organizations. The employer is the whole people." - Franklin Delano Roosevelt

You're not wrong Patrick, but media won't play by your correct rule.

If the sender of such an email turned out to be Republican, we all would have sent it.  That one crazy would be influenced by Palin, funded  by Newt, sent by the Tea Party and share DNA with all of us.  "We" would have sent it.

Since it's a lefty - it was just him.  Nothing to report here.

But only one side gets called on it. The Left can attack us with impunity. One nut on the right and it is all our fault. I cannot call a "pox on both houses" when one side gets in trouble.

What is more, beyond threats, it is the left that bands thugs together to threaten people. It is only on the left that we get mob violence. Only the left shuts down traffic, attacks people and put them into wheelchairs, does over $7million in damage, leaves behind a mess of trash, throws paint and other things on people.

It is the left that jeers a wonder solider. It is the left that refuses to fly the American flag. It is the left that spit on troops returning from Vietnam. It is the left that shows up to rallies in face masks. It is the left that loves Stalin, Castro, and Chavez.

In environmentalism, it is the left that destroys SUVs and sets fires. It is the left that attacks ships at sea.

Both sides are not the same. The left is violent, not the right.

I get those kinds of threats all the time, but I just shrug it off.

I know mom doesn't really mean it.

You have a point, and yet after 8 years of seeing the mainstreaming of "kill Bush" rhetoric, I think there is indeed something different about the Left.

@Tommy and @Paul - I'm totally down with you on the disparate treatment. One of my leftie friends believes that the right is the more uncivil. Since Tucson I've flooded him with daily examples of the left's incivilities. Proving your points, his only response has been "where do you find this stuff?"

On the good side, the words of the Schillers were, to me, uncivil . Their words are out there and they're out on their butts. They'll be radioactive for a little while anyway.

I keep tuning in to NPR for some coverage on this threat but so far, nothing! (I'm just kidding, I don't tune in to NPR and I know they wouldn't cover this story anyway.)

I guess you weren’t able to find any examples to support this assertion, unless you think the KKK or The Aryan Brotherhood are Ricochet conservatives.  The most far right conservative I can think of would be on the order of Pat Buchanan but he doesn’t say or write anything like this.

I find your statement to be an inflammatory comparison which sounds like a defense of the demented left.  That’s how they defend themselves. The "everybody does it” defense.

Can you imagine if the Wisconsin Republicans had done anything like this?

How would the union mobs react?

Bingo. But I think the left never cared about the Republic. They simply never needed to expose themselves to this extent.

This is a sign of their weakness. History was slowly inexorably moving them to their inevitable socialist goal- and then it wasn't.

No wonder they're mad.

My example is the current threats to both sides of the NM legislature in the debate over driver's licenses for illegals. I haven't any idea whether those threatening on our side are KKK'ers or members of the Brotherhood.

And please, leave the reading of my intentions to me and my shrink - if I had one.
