As the Daily Caller reports, on Friday afternoon the Obama administration released documents showing that it had granted more waivers to the president's sweeping health care law.  As in the past, groups that tend to be political supporters of Obama were more likely to receive waivers than those who tend not to be. Of the workers receiving waivers, seven times as many are represented by unions as those who are not.   Last April, when the Obama administration granted 204 waivers, nearly 20 percent went to businesses in Nancy Pelosi's congressional district.

I hope someone on the eventual nominee-to-be's staff is keeping track of this. News of this sort serves a self-evident dual purpose that aids in our messaging:

1) "Obama looks out for his cronies more than he does for the country. He has no idea of the common good! He isn't looking out for you, struggling Americans! He only protects the well connected political insiders!"

2) "Even people on the other side of the aisle, even Unions and organizations that heavily supported President Obama find his health care law intolerable and a threat to their jobs! That's why they're asking for waivers, America. We must repeal this bill!"

The President doesn't want to punish his supporters with his dreadful namesake and yet socialized medicine is his gift to the beleaguered population. How does one hold two such incompatible thoughts in one's head?

Hi, Crab bait. The answer is that he is not holding those thoughts in his head at all. Obamacare did not go as far as he wanted and he knows it is untenable; it was all he could get. But it is the first, crucial step to an eventual single-payer government system.

Tim I haven't followed the waiver issue as closely as I should have so I don't no the specifics.   Are these permenant waivers or temporary?  If temporary, how long do they last?

I believe they're one year waivers, and are not available after the system is fully in effect (in 2014?).

So does this mean that these organizations don't have to contribute during the time that "revenues" to support the program are being collected but when "benefits" are available in 2014 they may receive them?
