Compare and contrast. UK version, which I like:

International version, which I loathe:

Why the difference, I wonder?

The UK version focuses on her as a leader; the international version, on her as a personality. Perhaps it means that the producers think that the Brits may be ambivalent about her but not about their own history but that the rest of the world is interested in her only as caricature. ... Cannot wait to see it!

Other than the giddy smile int he latter, I don't mind it.

The former is longer. A more informative comparison would be to take a look at trailers of equivalent length.

The UK version includes depictions of many eventts that the international audience may be unfamiliar with. To the extent that any of those trigger a memory in a UK viewer, the viewer may become more interested than otherwise. The international version may merely be intended to introduce Thatcher in a memorable way.

Keep in mind, the "International Trailer" was only a teaser.

Mollie Hemingway, Ed.

I loved the last line of the International one. The movie itself? I am skeptical.

I’m guessing that if you said “Margaret Thatcher” to your average occupier, the response would be: Who?

They are going to need to tell the potential viewers who the movie’s heroine is.

That thought makes me die a little inside.

It's an unfair comparison. The UK trailer has Madness's "Our House" as background music. That's always going to beat some Clint Mansell throwaway composition.

Other than the Evita like final bit, I like the international one. I think that scene shows her swatting away the political handlers in just the right way.

I have a T-shirt with a screen of Thatcher on it and the kid at Trader Joe's said "Nice shirt!" and when I said something about Thatcher in response he said "who is that?"

It was sad.

Most of the kids that wear Che Guavera t-shirts probably don't know who he is.

Let's hope you're right about that.

Ahhh Claire, please don't do that. If we start dying a little for each of the OWS displays of ignorance, ignoble values, and sheer inanity, we would all be a lot dead by now.

The saddest part is those who don't know who she is/was to the world have never come alive.

To enjoy history one must realize that history is ordinary people stepping up to the plate, calling their shot and daring life to deliver the pitch.

I'm pretty sure some of them think he is a member of Rage Against The Machine.

The reviews of the movie are surprisingly good - I'll probably watch it, to bring back old memories of the mother country, at a time when I was heading off to the New World.

Thanks, but credit is due my father.  A high school history teacher and Hall of Fame basketball coach.  It's how he explained it to me.

There is no joy in life like watching YouTube of Thatcher in action. It doesn't look like Streep can fake that. But I wouldn't really know.

It got a very good review in the Telegraph. I'm so curious about it!
