The Gray Lady Speaks
At long last, the Republican primary has come to an end. The Gray Lady has spoken. Before Republicans vote in New York's primary tomorrow, The New York Times endorsed former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, well, sort of. Here is an excerpt:
We don’t think it is too late for Mr. Romney to build a platform that addresses the real needs of Americans, and his party should let him, for the country’s sake. The Republicans’ politics of personal destruction and public deprivation have done a great deal of damage and only promise more. Mr. Romney ought to aim higher.

Could they have been any more condescending?
Message: It's not too late for Mr. Romney to propose policies even more leftist than the president, in which case we would still savage him.
Re: The Gray Lady Speaks
The editorial is just an excuse for the paper to bemoan the state of the Republican party. In 2008, the paper "endorsed" John McCain in similar style.

Orwellian. They also manage to be ironically hypocritical at the same time.

I wasn't sure who I was going to vote for tomorrow until I read the New York Times Editorial page. Thank God for the Grey Lady! I'd be lost without her.

Wouldn't it have been funny if they had endorsed someone else, though?

NY Times: George W Bush called, he'd like his reputation back.
Re: The Gray Lady Speaks
My thoughts exactly ... as if we were all just waiting for the newspaper of record to tell us how to record our votes.

Re: The Gray Lady Speaks
I will be out with my Romney sign here in Park Slope, Brooklyn, near the Grand Army Plaza subway, and then on the 2/3 Train. I am sure there will be an Obama sign confrontation, but also, surprisingly, some "right on!" feedback. Should be fun. And in NYC, quixotic.
