The GOP Convention: It's All Working (Even That Speech by Chris Christie)
From my friend Ed Kinsey, one of the few Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who's genuinely conservative:
I'm a political junkie and have been watching the convention as much as I can….What I'm amazed by is how much I love some of the speeches, like Gov. Christie, and how much the analysts are opposed to my view….
I love Charles Krauthammer and tend to be more aligned with his views than with those of any other analyst but was shocked when he was negative on the Christie speech.
Gov. Christie inspired! His message made people like me who; have risen above the odds with unimpressive degrees to achieve more than expected, who have felt beat down by the past 3+ years of Obama telling us we should feel guilty about our success because we somehow gamed the system, and, who feel like we've somehow failed, feel like we are really ok. That's exactly what was needed….
I feel like our party has awoken, has gotten the messaging thing figured out, has understood how to work with social media and, most importantly, has shown that we have a cadre of great people (Gov. Martinez was very impressive last night and, well, Condi always is to me)….
Just my thoughts, but am I missing something?
I might have edited a few passages in Chris Christie's speech--he would have done well to praise other reforms, by other Republican governors, mentioning, say, Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels, and Rick Perry--but no, Ed, I don't believe you're missing a thing.
