The End of Sparta Weekend Contest Winners

Thanks to all who participated in this weekend's contest. Victor Davis Hanson provided a pair of very challenging prompts, but our Members came through with a host of really thoughtful submissions.
Dr. Hanson set out to select one winner, but couldn't narrow it down to just one submission. So we have a three-way tie for first. Congratulations to JM Hanes, Jordan Rodriguez, and Leslie Watkins whose posts on radical democracy and historical unintended consequences have earned them copies of Victor Davis Hanson's new novel, The End of Sparta.

Huzzah! Congratulations to JM and Leslie--my effort falls far short of your submissions. Diane, any chance VDH will sign a copy (with an inscription in Greek)? Ok, I won't push it.

Fantastic book. I'm already a couple chapters into it. I love Victor's choice of using a more 19th century prose in it.

Right back at ya, Jordan! I learned a lot from this exercise. And, yes, Diane,I too am wondering if there's any chance of getting them signed. How incredible would that be?!?!

Yes. I can certainly get them signed for you if you're willing to wait a bit longer since it will depend on when Dr. Hanson will next be at Stanford (which he informs me may not be til mid-November).

Ditto, Ditto! I enjoyed your essays very much too; different approaches, from different perspectives -- feels like a nice Ricochet triad, in a 3 Weekend Musketeers sort of way.
I was already delighted just to have a chance to write something that might engage Dr. Hanson's attention. I'd love to have a signed copy too, and am happy to wait on his convenience, with many thanks.
