Given the image I'll be disappointed if there's not a Dick Van Dyke style marital meltdown, with Mollie tremulous ala Mary Tyler Moore.

Right era, wrong sitcom.

The Munsters, maybe?  The font seems to remind me of that, though the door isn't very spooky.

Looks like the door in Father Knows Best.  Maybe EJ is declaring his sympathies?

Mollie, you guys fight over weird stuff.  Why don't you fight over whether or not the terms of the Treaty of Westphalia led to German factionalism that prevented Germany from uniting sooner, or whether it was the foreign policy of Bourbon France alone that caused that condition?

That's the kind of thing I fight about.

We've only been married five years. I think we'll get there.

I have to admit that when weeks went by without an episode #2, I was concerned that my complaints about ums and table banging led to your being canceled (like everybody doesn't secretly believe that the world revolves around them).  I was glad to see your return and even more glad the the ums were minimized and the table banging nonexistent.  My fear that I killed the Hemingways turned to joy that I saved them for another day.  (Ever since my shoulder surgery patting myself on the back has been uncomfortable.)

Having gotten that out of the way, I have to say that I hadn't thought about the Condi Rice as possible VP leak being a ruse to throw us off the trail, but now that I think about it you may very well be right.  The Soros funded prepackaged news stories is disgusting, but not as disgusting as the fact that the media laps it up.

I've also wondered whether Romney is trying to alarm us with a Condi rumor so that we will be relieved rather than disappointed when he chooses someone who is to the right of Condi, but isn't a red meat conservative.  Am I overly paranoid?

Since Lileks seems to have taken a powder, I'll step in and elucidate. That's the front door of Ozzie and Harriet, who, by the way, really knew how to mix it up like the pros. I've said it before and I'll say it again: No stitches? No fight!

Love the M&M chats. Feels like home.

Mark – “toboggan ride down the slippery slope to hell” made me laugh out loud. Mollie, you could do professional voiceover work. Seriously.

Yep, the Condi splash was brilliant diversion and did a bunch of things. During the week of the NAACP speech, it was a faint dog whistle to compare their black guy's experience and demeanor with our black gal's experience and demeanor. In that equation, Obama looks pathetic (or even more pathetic than usual). It also as Mollie and others pointed out, deflected the Bain baloney, got the base excited and threatening mutiny before pushing out of the harbor, and spotlighted the fact that Condi has turned on Obama. People listened to her remarks in Park City and there was no equivocating. Previously she had been a bit too forgiving about Obama's manifest failures and assaults, leaving some to wonder if she might have voted for him in '08 or would endorse him this time around.

I love Condi Rice with all her flaws. But I hope and expect she will remain provost at Stanford.

The new sensation sweeping the nation-- The Hemingways

Keep 'em coming.

(When I saw EJ's podcast image I confess I had an urge to amble on down to the soda shop and pick up a quart of Neapolitan for dessert tonight.  Harriet's making pot roast!)

Only two episodes in, and The Hemingways is quickly climbing up the ranks of my favorites among the Ricochet family of podcasts.  To borrow Peter's phraseology, simply delightful!
