The one-thousand boat flotilla down the Thames takes place tomorrow.  Today?  The Queen got into the mood by going to the races (see the photo), where, at the Epsom Derby, her horse placed second.  We of the Ricochetti can get into the mood ourselves by watching two videos, one high, one low.

The high, which lasts almost a quarter of an hour, represents a reverent overview of the Queen's six decades on the throne.  Lots of crowns, lots of coaches, and lots of waving from balconies, all with Handel and Elgar playing in the background:

The low?  Well, if you watched all 15 minutes of the first video, consider yourself entitled to 90 seconds of the Diamond Jubilee Jello Mold:

Gor bless ya, ma'am.

(With a tip of the hat to a certain denizen of Park Avenue.)

I'm still waiting for my refrigerator.  Can't make a Jell-O mold without a refrigerator…

Really, Peter? Really?

I lost interest in the crown in 1776.

A woman of grace and serenity in a mad, mad world.  She must weep that the multi-culti lunatics are rapidly taking her country to hell.  Alas, she has been unable to frustrate thier knavish tricks.

I agree with you in principle, but I make an exception in her case.

She knew her way around a motor pool.

If she had been at Saratoga there would have been a different outcome!!!

I've just come across this letter written by George III after the lose of the colonies. You might find it interesting.

He is discussing the strategic interests of the UK now that the colonies have been lost. His conclusion is that it is in the interests of the UK to maintain friendly trading links as that would be pretty much the same relationship as before the Declaration of Independence.

It's worth a read if you like geopolitics.

Now there's Saxe-Cotheburg with avengeance, and I mean that in a very, very good way, as in "maximum determination."

There are some of nice images of "Mum" too in the worthier clip.  She lived to be 101 or 102, right?  Hmm, Elizabeth Regina may well outlive many of us commenting in this thread.  Let us hope that there will still be an England when she finally surrenders the crown.

For us patriotic citizens of the United States, the law, the Constitution--the notion, not a personal figure--is supreme.  But I own that we lack the exaltation of feeling that is the gift of royal pageantry.

If she had been at Saratoga, reconciliation would have been possible.
