Diane: Here is one equally as good, from Haley Barbour's folks at the RGA:

Wow, Kenneth -- that one was excellent as well! But it wasn't set to a children's choir cover of Radiohead's "Creep," so while it was more dramatic, Ben Howe's wins on the artistic front.

Yeah, yours had a better dance beat. And for a schadenfreude addict like myself, all those weepy Obamaheads at the beginning provided a nice chuckle.

Those were both very well done. But very dark. I hope things can actually be turned around.

I laughed my butt off at the last line by Obama. Thanks for posting this.

When I predicted all of this in 2008 I was accused of being prejudice by coworkers who told me that I didn't understand what was needed to get this country on the right track.
Now those same people (I'm not working in that place anymore) are acting like they've been hit by a train and are now saying things like, "Well he never said he was going to do any of that stuff."
They have, of course, forgotten completely that I was busy telling them that all of this was going to happen. (You see, I'd seen this script before.)

Obama's use of us and them is so striking. Who are the "they" who should be saying thank you in that final clip?
And that Radiohead soundtrack is brilliant.

Both brilliant, and easy on the ears. A wonderful telling of the descent from rapture to the reality. About 2/3 of the way in is where the Tea Party folks started saying "huh"?

So, who sees these videos? They're too long to be aired on TV, so they remain on the Internet where the viewers are self-selecting. It's too bad, because they are so effective.

Those were excellent videos.

Re: The Best Summary of Obama's First Two Years In Office
I hate advertising. I gave up my television four years ago when I realized that much of the programming I watched was in its own way little different from commercial breaks that supported it. The networks offered me very little information, but a whole lot of propaganda designed to manipulate my thinking. And this affect is much worse than just trying to separate me from my money.
I know enough about advertising to understand that it's mostly based on an appeal to our baser instincts: sex, greed, envy, fear, etc. Both of the videos above rely on fear and anger for their impact. I find that sad. I wish people were more cerebral and discriminating so that advertisers could appeal to our noble instincts.
Of course, the Obama campaign did appeal to our better angels, but it was a lie designed to conceal his real agenda. Some of us saw it for what it was, but unfortunately 54% of Americans didn't. If there is any silver lining to our present circumstances, it's that the Tea Party movement is spontaneous. No one needed to incite the American people to act. We just did. That much gives me hope.

Re: The Best Summary of Obama's First Two Years In Office
I agree - I wish both this and the video Kenneth posted had ended with positive imagery. However, I think that there is a need to point to the astonishing hypocrisy of Obama, and how he will say almost anything to distract, while doing the opposite. He takes people for fools - I think he always has. And people are mad and this is a reflection of that anger. I don't think this is advertising so much as art. While at the very end it reminds one to vote, it is mostly a very succinct capture of Obama.

Rick Santelli lit the fuse, but the energy was latent. It might have ignited by spontaneous combustion anyway.
