The Audacity of Taupe

OK, I pinched that title from Lucianne.com, simply because it was too much to resist. The link was to a Daily Caller story about the newly redecorated Oval Office. By now most of us have seen the photos. Am curious what the Ricochet community makes of the re-do.

Re: The Audacity of Taupe
Inspirational quotes on the rug????
Oh, ack.
Overstuffed gold velveteen sofas?
What I remember of the Bush era design was dignified, formal without being regal, and perfectly suited to its purpose. This looks like, as Peter R. suggested, a room at an Embassy Suites. This would be fine (though not to my taste) for the private WH rooms, but not at all appropriate to either the age or august functions of the room.
I like the Lincoln portrait...

My comment on Twitter when I saw the picture: "Why does my Oval Office now look like some rich guy's den?"

I'm shocked, shocked -- the Great Seal on the rug wasn't replaced with his dang logo...
Re: The Audacity of Taupe
I'm afraid Churchill is going through yet another period in the wilderness. But he'll be back. In the meantime, I think he resides at the British Embassy.

Yeah. It does look just like that. Just like that.
Maybe that's why I'm not so bugged by the redecorating. You could do so much worse that "upper-mid-end hotel bland".
