When I was in the White House, the Washington Post's Dana Milbank was the occasion of many moments of irritation. But he's a good reporter, and has written an interesting piece on Arianna Huffington and the sale of the Huffington Post.

What do you think?

"She later explained the 'transformation' of her political views by saying the right had 'seduced, fooled, blinded, bamboozled her.

"That's crazy talk. Nobody bamboozles Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington."

Seriously?  I'd say that Michael Huffington quite literally seduced, fooled and bamboozled her (I cannot speak to the blindfolding).  That is, assuming that he was gay before he married her, and that his homosexual awakening wasn't a direct reaction to exposure to their marriage bed.

And perhaps Arianna Huffington's conversion to Progressivism was a direct reaction to exposure to Michael Huffington's emergence from the closet.

To me, AOL seems left-leaning already, not right or center at all.  Why do people think that Huffington is moving away from the left because of this merger?  Is the H-Po that leftward-leaning?

I assume Arianna will remain consistent with her progressive views and gift all sale proceeds to the federal government.

Arianna Huffington has never been anything other than a gold-digging celebrity groupie.

For awhile, she plied her wares on the right.  Then she figured out that walking on the left side of the street would get her invited to cruises on David Geffen's yacht and weekends at Barbra Streisand's Malibu estate.

This deal, by the way, is beyond stupid.  AOL is paying ten times revenues for Huffington Post.  Didn't these guys learn anything from the dot-com crash?

Here's food for thought: wasn't Obama going to make it illegal for people to work for free for for-profit corporations?

If the AOLHP is required to pay for its content, it's not going to earn back that $315 million purchase price: either it will refuse to pay for content and have no content to attract eyeballs, or it will start paying for content and blow its business model to Hades.

Kenneth,

C'mon, don't hold back, tell us what you really think!

Then again, you said what I was thinking; I'm just mad (just kidding) you beat me to writing it down here.

AOL is paying ten times revenues for Huffington Post.

Like global warming, they will find that revenue projections are full of hot air.

Coincidentally, AOL has lost $315million in market cap over the past week.  Meaning investors valued the Puffington Host at zero, as befits a break-even enterprise with no assets.

More surprisingly, AOL appears to be traded on the exchange.
