The brilliant Justin Folk - who does the brilliant backgrounds on my Klavan on the Culture videos for PJTV - has brilliantly won the 100-thousand dollar Power Line prize for brilliantly dramatizing the debt crisis with his brilliant video "The Spending Is Nuts!"  Do you realize what this means?  Yes - drinks are on him!  But seriously, it's a beautiful piece of work and no one could deserve it more.  Justin is not only a wonderful talent, he's also not half bad in the human being department - which is too rare a combination.

Justin says he'll contribute the money to helping Barack Obama pay down the debt.

You know what?  You don't see in TV shows and movies the point of view of the boss when the employee wins the lottery and gleefully tells the boss he quits.

Let us know what it's like, Andrew. :)

The shortcoming of all analogies is that they can't represent the utter disconnect of currency, taxes, and government IOUs from actual value.

It's nuts.

That's the question, isn't it? What will you do when they come for your last two nuts?

You are very lucky to have him, Andrew; errr were.

That's a worthy winner and I wish to point out to others, how wonderful the Powerline video player is, to those that may not notice.  They have a fabulous program that allows people like me, almost entirely wireless, to load full videos on tenuous connections.  I never watch Peter Robinson's UK videos on anything but the Powerline player.  There's a reason that I do that and those folks are savvy enough to support a fabulous video-playing format.  It is better than YouTube and vastly better than PopModal, Vimeo, and the also rans.  Their player format is so much better than that of others, it will have an impact in our mobile world that may not be apparent to folks watching such things on better connections.  Thank you, PowerLine folks.

This is ridiculous.  That's just about a bunch of stupid squirrels.  Nothing like that would ever happen in real life.  Geez...

The artistry is impressive, but I cringe because it tells more than it shows. This clip lacks the story that politely allows you to realize the message at hand: it bulldozes you over with the reality of our situation and so seems by turns more depressing and irritating than the beautiful scenery deserves.

The thing about liberal media is that even when it bulldozes you over with sex and violence, at least these have an elemental connection to the depraved desires inherent in us all. Conservative attempts too often tack the other way, foisting a shotgun marriage of our philosophical aims to the entertainment that so easily ruins both. That said, I do tip my cap to the exceptional graphic design work done by Mr. Folk.

Justin is perhaps unaware that he will involuntarily contribute nearly half right off the top to help Barack Obama pay down the debt ceiling.

Why give him the other half?
