Each and every day I remind myself of the brave young men who sailed across the sea in our nation's dark days facing Imperial Japan. I remind myself of battlefields shared in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. I think of the 2500 marines in the northern territory, acting as a tripwire force to deter Chinese aggression... and I am grateful.
There is no nation like yours, not one. Imperfect, impure, mighty and terrifying, yet kind and generous. Always forgiving, always giving.
We are young and free, in great part due to you being free and brave. Thank you, America.
