Thank You, Sarah Palin
She'll be lambasted for this, from all of the usual places, but as usual she boils it down to its essence. About Obama and his foreign policy, from her Facebook page:
It’s about time our president stood up for America and condemned these Islamic extremists. I realize there must be a lot on his mind these days – what with our economy’s abysmal jobless numbers and Moody’s new warning about yet another downgrade to our nation’s credit rating due to the current administration’s failure to come up with a credible deficit reduction plan. And, of course, he has a busy schedule – with all those rounds of golf, softball interviews with the “Pimp with the Limp,” and fundraising dinners with his corporate cronies. But our nation’s security should be of utmost importance to our Commander-in-chief. America can’t afford any more “leading from behind” in such a dangerous world. We already know that President Obama likes to “speak softly” to our enemies. If he doesn’t have a “big stick” to carry, maybe it’s time for him to grow one.
Pitch perfect.
The lickspittle press will pile on, probably, and try to create a Romney-Palin story out of this, but it'll backfire. This is Obama's Jimmy Carter moment. And Palin is pressing the case. She's a handful, and a mixed bag, and a lot of other things besides, but I'm sure glad she's on our side.

Darn tootin'
And I know it is not very diplomatic to challenge someone's manhood, but it is high time *someone* did it.

"grow one"? Have I misinterpreted TR's analogy for all these years?

When I saw that this morning, I chuckled, of course, but also thought "Well I guess Palin really has decided she doesn't want to be a politician." Then I rememberd Alan Simpson.

Rob, you're spot on. This is Obama's Jimmy Carter moment. I keep waiting to see if he has a rabbit to pull out of his hat (perhaps a hissing one, but I digress), but I am pretty sure that President Obama is singularly unprepared to deal with this. Leading from behind, my hind leg.

Re: Thank You, Sarah Palin
There was a crowd of us waiting to see what it would take for Rob Long to extend a warm greeting to Sarah.
Finally ! And she will be appearing on what episode in the second season ? That is sort of snarky, but she is a wonderful voice for many folks in the country. Grow one indeed !

Hah! You know, I was going to use a different headline: "Obama's Jimmy Carter Moment," but at the last minute I decided to go with my gut. I still think the Jimmy Carter hed is better for search, and for creating a public conversation, but I've been tough on Palin -- justifiably so, I still think -- but have to hand it to her: she sees things clearly and communicates them with power.

Re: Thank You, Sarah Palin
I think you'll see that the MSM 's crush on Obama didn't extend so overwhelmingly to Jimmah. He didnt throw alot of swanky soirees, didn't know many stars, and followed Ford into office where the Rolling Stones had done cocaine with Jan Wenner and Ford's cool kids.
Carter's family was downright provincial and Obama's family is Beyonce and Oprah and Anna Wintour. It's all about getting a good table back in NYC.

People always forget, she beat Joe Biden senseless in their debate.

Re: Thank You, Sarah Palin
I'm surprised that the President who single handedly shot Bin Laden while surrounded by the invading armies of King Xerxes and who throws a fastball at 120 mph while wearing a bike helmet keeps getting pounded by a girl.
Forget the war on women: let a woman lead them.

Perhaps President Obama can enlist the support of the Iranian teachers' union to bail him out of this one.

Rob Long and Mollie Hemingway have been delightfully pugnacious lately! Just because we have a CofC does not mean strong words are shunned.

This is all very nice to criticize. But what would you suggest Obama do? Let's hear your ideas.

Re: Thank You, Sarah Palin
Am I the only one to think that if Sarah was in charge and extremists were caught, how shall I put it, let just say at the next demonstration their voices would have a higher pitch?

Re: Thank You, Sarah Palin
What would we have the president do? Cut off all diplomatic ties and blockade their ports as well as interdicting their air traffic until the local governments in Libya and Egypt hand over the perps. Let's start there and work our way up.

Have enough Marines at each embassy to repel such attacks.
Never, ever apologize for free speech. Ridicule dumb ideas all you want but don't stop free speech.
Right now, I am trying to curb my wish to resurface every street Ambassador Stephens was dragged through. Dirt and craters work for me.
Stop every single cent of aid going to Libya and Egypt.
Meet with Netanyahu.
Treat American embassies as sovereign ground. They are.
