Somebody needs to learn to mix music with video, but not a bad start. Better than the book video.

Nice video. I am so glad that he's running. It can only help the whole process.

Minnesota has to atone somehow for foisting Al Franken on the country. This will help.

Now it's going to get really interesting.

God Bless Mr. Pawlenty and his family as they enter this most difficult fray.

Diane Ellis, Ed.

Now that Mitch is out, I guess it's time to start trying to get excited about Tim Pawlenty.

Not a bad video, but geez louise, can't we get an injection of optimism in there?  Takeaway message seemed to be: "I could tell you that I'm going to help solve our problems, but it's time to tell the truth -- our problems our unsolvable."

What a downer.

"Mr. Reagan will raise taxes, and so will I. He won't tell you. I just did." - Walter Mondale.

Honesty at work. That line won Minnesota, too. And the District of Columbia.

What's with the teleprompter? If you're going to cut from one camera to another while he's speaking, or cut between Pawlenty and inspirational images, why not record a few lines at a time so that he can stare directly into the camera? They zoom in so close that it's very clear he's reading.

Besides, these videos reach millions of people. It's not like a campaign speech to one small town among a hundred others on the campaign trail. You would think a candidate would invest the time to actually know such a speech by heart before filming.

By the way, here in Texas, the only candidates most normal folks I know — meaning people who don't obsessively pay attention to politics and news — are familiar with are Romney and Gingrich. None of them has a clue who Pawlenty is.

And that's why Romney and Gingrich will almost certainly be frontrunners.

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter the 2012 Presidential race." - Dante Pawlenty, Book 12, The Minnesota Inferno.

Shorter tag line: "Got a light? Rome is burnin', and its harshin' my mellow."

I really liked the video.  He also is sounding good in his interview with Rush right now.

Maybe I need to be reminded of Pawlenty's shortcomings, but I think I could really get behind him.  His timing is perfect right now: right after Daniels dropping out and Gingrich imploding.  He could really take off.

I'd love to see us get behind someone (instead of nitpicking every candidate to death until the only one left standing is Romney).

I don't know, I thought it worked well as a contrast to Hope and Change.  Last time around we elected the guy who promised he could stop the very oceans from rising and give us all free goodies plus a middle class tax cut.  We can re-elect him, or we can elect someone who will finally treat us like adults and tell the truth.  Seems like a good narrative for '12.

Huh?  Wha?   Oh, sorry, I nodded off there.  This guy is who?

On Rush's show he was terrific. I tuned in after it began and didn't know who it was for a few minutes. He was so articulate and straightforward it was stunning. He told Iowans that the ethanol subsidies have to end, and said, "I'm used to getting the sh** beat out of me, and so is my wife. We'll do fine...Without honesty, all the politics and campaigning is a complete waste of time..."

I'm really interested for the first time. How about a Tim Pawlenty/Herman Cain ticket?

I think Gingrich is basically dead at this point.  Having name recognition is good only if people know who you are and like you.

Minnesota politics is a great training ground for national politics, because we see the whole range, from far left to far right, along with strong Independents that end up electing Lefties by splitting the vote. And it's kind of evenly divided, so that you get Franken and Ellison on one side, and Bachmann and Kline on the other side, and every victory is hard won. When I lived in San Francisco, politics was boring as hell, because there was absolutely no suspense. No highly-talented Republicans every ran locally, because it was a suicide mission.

even david cameron did not run on promised cuts on current entitlement programs. if ryan and pawlenty's message resonate, this may be a first.

I agree with diane.  Pawlenty should have a little bit of Trump in him, who's main theme is "America will be great again" or "America will be respected again"-- without trump's crazy statements about seizing libyan oil or his birther obsession.

altho he did well with the oreilly interview and his CPAC speech this year.
