You all just waking up? Then you may not yet have heard. He says it's a dirty op, of course. If he's right, it's somehow exquisitely just, as covert ops go. Much more elegant than whacking the guy. As a spy novelist--as a novelist, period--I approve of the perfect matching of punishment to crime.

Wow, is that the treasonous jerk that looks like an elderly Draco Malfoy? Beautifully done. I wonder if Andrea is behind this. Swedes are starting to kick Danish butt. Sure, we smacked down Obama twice (once over the Olympics and once over, ahem, climate change), but then Sweden comes up with Girl Who Played With Fire and hunted down horrid people. Grudgingly thumping Swedish backs. Wait, that came out wrong.

I thought the same thing! I feel bad for the covert op assigned to get close enough to him to allege rape and molestation, if indeed that's how it went. Ew. That's a true patriot to make that sacrifice.

Ewwww, Karen. You think? Not sure "lay back and think of Sweden" is much of a motivator.

If the allegations are true, this would help explain why Assange looks like such a gigantic Creepasaurus.

I saw an interview this morning with Karin Rosander, a spokeswoman for the Swedish Prosecution Authority, who stated that he will be arrested as soon as they can locate him.

According to her, he's accused of two counts of rape and molestation, and the witnesses are credible. Considering the Swedes' history of pacifism, it's a bit difficult to imagine they could be used as proxies for U.S. black ops.

Perhaps the loathsome reptile Assange, can do the noble thing for once in his life and literally fall on his sword, thus saving the CIA some money. I am happy to loan him one if required.

Also, to segue into another idea entirely, you think that the USA, and other western governments are missing a great opportunity to win some hearts and minds in Pakistan by not providing much more humanitarian aid to the flooded areas. My concerns are that the terrorist groups will simply provide much needed food and water, following up with an increase in recruitment in the future.

Hmm: via Jay Rosen, it looks like the Swedes are dropping charges.

At least for me, the page following that link is illegible. So here's a link to another source saying the same thing.

Claire's original link is now saying the rape charge is dropped, but that there is another charge still being investigated.

If Assange had pulled a Wiki Leak on Vladimir Putin's Russia, he'd be goner by now.

Pity the CIA has been neutered. These days, they spend all their time in cultural -sensitivity training instead of placing bullets in deserving heads.
