Mollie Hemingway, Ed.: Yesterday, Ambassador Susan Rice went around on the talk shows to distribute an odd talking point:

U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice blanketed the TV airways Sunday to reinforce the Obama administration’s position that the deadly violence at American outposts across the Middle East last week was the result of an anti-Muslim video -- delivering her message on four morning talk shows.

"What sparked the violence was a very hateful video on the Internet," Rice said on "Fox News Sunday." "It was a reaction to a video that had nothing to do with the United States."

Now, even the folks running Libya aren't so stupid as to advance this line. Heck, they've already rounded up some of the advance plotters for the, um, very very spontaneous attack. When the Obama administration first started spewing this line, I figured they were just trying to buy a few hours of time to get their story straight. But it's been days now, and they keep saying it.All of a sudden I'm terrified that they actually believe this. If so, we're in far worse shape than we may have thought. · · 45 minutes ago

It used to be the case that a diplomat was an honorable man who went abroad to lie for his country. In the Age of Obama, a diplomat is a dishonorable woman who goes on television to lie for her President.

Alcina: I'm not particularly sensitive, but I'm not sure I quite follow the importance of your distinction between the "man" (formerly) and the "woman" (currently).

Among other things, it appears to ignore Jeane Kirkpatrick, who held the same post Susan Rice does.

Hillary favors women over men in high posts. That is all.

I rarely see any TV and I mostly ignore the mainstream media; So, I am curious. Are the talking heads still spinning this event as something spontaneous "sparked" by the video, as they were on Sunday morning when I had CNN inflicted on me at an airport and read Pravda-on-the-Hudson over the shoulder of the fellow next to me on the plane? Or are they following the Libyans who claim that we were warned three days before and that the attack was organized by foreigners sent in by Al Qu'aeda?

I was listening to NPR this morning and they were discussing the disparity between the US / Libyan version of events.  Basically, they said both sides are stretching the truth.  The US because we don't want our Libyan adventure to look like a failure and the Libyans because if Al Qaeda is in Libya then we will provide more support and aid.

Check out this CBS video that i saw this morning. It's getting harder for them to lie.

I would make two small changes:

It used to be the case that a diplomat was an honorable man who went abroad to lie for his country. In the Age of Obama, a diplomat is a dishonorable woman who goes on television to lie TO her COUNTRY.

Standfast

When is someone in his administration and/or media (kind of the same thing) finally going to say what they really think on live TV in front of God and everybody?

Is there one honest ethical person in his adminstration or in the mainstream media? · 4 hours ago

Standfast:  The only reasonable conclusion I've been able to come to is that by and large they have self-deluded into actually believing what they're saying. The consequences to the Leftist value system they have spent decades assembling would be catastrophic, so at some level they believe because they must.

Leftism is a religion. Susan Rice is one of it's (very) minor prophets.

BTW, even at this hour, the "The Video Caused It" meme is The Official Version Of Events on all the MSM that I've caught a glimpse of.

Taliban attacks in Afghanistan, video caused it.

Embassy evacuation necessary in Yemen, video caused it.

Demonstrations in Europe, video caused it.

Traffic backed up on the toll-road, video caused it.

Cat had kittens, video caused it.

I thought Susan Rice’s appearances on the Sunday network talk shows were an absolute disgrace.  I felt the same way as Thomas Sowell who said on Peter Robinson’s Uncommon Knowledge in a different context: “I feel like a mosquito in a nudist camp.  Where do I start?”  She insulted the intelligence of any listener by indicating the “movie” trailer as the cause of the unrest, and then refusing to answer any questions because there is an FBI investigation in progress.

The Arab Muslim world respects a “strong horse”, and distains the “weak horse”.  President Obama’s Mideast policy is the epitome of the “weak horse”.  His policy refuses to recognize the reality that Islam is more than a religion—Sharia law is a major component of it.  Sharia is a blueprint for how one’s life should be led, encompassing religion, government, economics, and social interaction.  For decades, the Pew surveys have indicated that an overwhelming majority of people in the Middle East want to be governed under Sharia.  As you watch the scenes of the chaos in the Middle East that began September 11th, who are you going to believe: Susan Rice, or your own lying eyes?
