Susan Rice, Diplomat
| Mollie Hemingway, Ed.: Yesterday, Ambassador Susan Rice went around on the talk shows to distribute an odd talking point:
Now, even the folks running Libya aren't so stupid as to advance this line. Heck, they've already rounded up some of the advance plotters for the, um, very very spontaneous attack. When the Obama administration first started spewing this line, I figured they were just trying to buy a few hours of time to get their story straight. But it's been days now, and they keep saying it.All of a sudden I'm terrified that they actually believe this. If so, we're in far worse shape than we may have thought. · · 45 minutes ago |
It used to be the case that a diplomat was an honorable man who went abroad to lie for his country. In the Age of Obama, a diplomat is a dishonorable woman who goes on television to lie for her President.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
I'm sure the problem is that we just haven't apologized enough. I'm sure that will be corrected shortly. As we've learned from the President, if something doesn't work the first time, you have to double-down.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
If your spouse comes after you with a butcher knife because you left your socks on the floor, then there is probably some deeper problem with the relationship than careless sock distribution. If your co-worker tries to get you fired because you took the last cup of coffee and didn't make another pot, there is most likely some problem between you & him which goes beyond inconsiderate coffee-snarfing.

Saw her defending Obama relentlessly on TV. To be willing to make a complete fool of herself in front of not just America but the world; she must really be obsessed with Barry.

There's a flip side to this. When Muslims riot and the administration flails ineffectually, events begin to hurt Obama's election prospects. If Muslims had any strategic sense they would be doing everything possible to see the weak horse reelected. They certainly "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." They are, however, consistent.

Very, very well put.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
As I mentioned in another post on the Member side, how long is it going to take Iran to interpret our feckless response to the attacks in Cairo and Benghazi as a green light for whatever it wants to do?
If Obama can't look beyond his own reelection prospects when formulating a foreign policy response, it's high time for the opposition to make it plain what it intends to do if given the keys in January. The only thing that might stop Israel from attacking is having the confidence that Obama will not be reelected and that a new administration will project a credible threat which will force Iran to back down.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
The President based his entire domestic policy on "its someone else's fault". Now his entire foreign policy is "its someone else's fault". This in an area of the world where Radical Islam stokes hatred of the Great Satan by saying:
"Its someone else's fault."
Its like the movie The Lion King if the circle of life was a star and crescent.

Now what type of person lies and dodges instead of admitting fault? Starts with an N and ends in arcissist.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
Yes it is suddenly becoming clear that we are in far more trouble than even I, a major cynic, believed.
It's Sodom and Gomorrica, I'm afraid. We have reared enough people to live like there's no tomorrow to seal our fate. The mountain of lies from every direction was bound to pile up and crush us one day.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
When is someone in his administration and/or media (kind of the same thing) finally going to say what they really think on live TV in front of God and everybody?
Is there one honest ethical person in his adminstration or in the mainstream media?

I'm not particularly sensitive, but I'm not sure I quite follow the importance of your distinction between the "man" (formerly) and the "woman" (currently).
Among other things, it appears to ignore Jeane Kirkpatrick, who held the same post Susan Rice does.

So true. It seems that George W. Bush's enemies served him well and that Barack Obama's friends do not.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
Obama's campaign needs the riots and killings to be all about the video; it cannot afford for the incidents to be seen as being related in any way to the President's policies. The results of the government's investigation into the incidents will not be made public until after the election. From taxes to Fast and Furious, there are an amazing number of time bombs that will go off after November 6.

Worse still - to die for him, given that he does not provide adequate security, out of political correctness.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
Obama feels instinctual sympathy with Muslim extremists. He will say he does not approve their methods, but he sympathizes with their anti-Western aspirations as is evidenced by the frequency with which he repeats verbatim the pretexts of Islamist talking points.
Does anyone think Obama would regret the disappearance of the Jewish state?
Thus, things teeter on the precipice. Why would Bibi wait around for Obama to finish selling out Israel?
If Romney continues looking like a loser, Bibi will have no choice but to strike Iran now, before the US election, while there's still some hope that Obama, out of pure self-interest, would have to make a show of supporting Israel, or failing that, would pay a price at the US polls.
If Obama wins in November, it will be too late for Israel because Obama will then have acquired the "flexibility" not only to refuse to support Israel against Iran, but to actively and openly undermine Israel.
In the present circumstances, an Israeli "October surprise" (attacking Iran) would not be at all surprising. The question is, "How would Obama react?" Probably by blaming Bibi, which is the politically correct way to get away with blaming Israel.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
When viewers and voters are forced to confront the option of believing the Obama spokespeeps or their own eyes and ears, this won't bode well for the administration in power. No American likes to see our embassies and consulates assaulted and our fellow citizens killed. But given the fact it is happening across the middle east, and our government's strongest response has been to arrest the filmmaker that they blame for the "crisis" this offends our honor, our pride and our belief in the rule of law.
These are reactions that will be difficult to blame on Romney. Or the video. Or any other convenient Goldbergesque target they conjure.

Re: Susan Rice, Diplomat
This whole thing has been appalling. The defense of the defenseless is beyond understanding. It is but another example of the kids trying to make excuses to their parents for the squablling between them--he started it; no, she did. Worse then that, the administration parallels the maturity of the mobs. They need to all be seen and not heard and put we need to put adults in charge.
Problelm is that too many people buy these excuses. I am embarrassed for my country.
