Sure. That Makes Sense.

Amusing, isn't it, that Planned Parenthood required a parental signature -- called a "Participation/Medical/Media Release Form" -- from teens for attending a rally of theirs in Sacramento on Tuesday?
Not for an abortion. For attending a rally.
Because, I mean, there are so many traumatic and tragic things that can happen when one makes the very important decision to attend a rally in broad daylight, hold a sign, and wander the green, and we all agree, don't we, that parents of teens should be informed of this, because, ... well, just because.

Re: Sure. That Makes Sense.
Perhaps We should start Planned Rallyhood for teens who would like to rally without their Parents permission.
Or
The teens should rally against the release form.

Because you can kill your children, but you can't exploit them.

Re: Sure. That Makes Sense.
It makes perfect sense.
The law in most states says that Planned Parenthood can't be held liable for giving a minor an abortion.
The law in most states says that Planned Parenthood can be liable for all sorts of things that might happen to a minor at a rally -- up to and including having the minor's image and/or voice recorded for broadcast.
So Planned Parenthood sees performing abortions as harmless and holding rallies as highly risky.

Sometimes liberalism forces you into contradictions that require a willing suspension of disbelief.

Re: Sure. That Makes Sense.
This is just such an example of the level of lunacy we have come to accept and tolerate as normal it defies explanation.
Re: Sure. That Makes Sense.
The logic (such as it is) of Planned Parenthood v. Casey is that the state (including those who act on behalf of the state) cannot "significantly burden" the exercise of a fundamental right. The last time I checked, speech and assembly were "fundamental rights" and obviously, PP emphatically believes that parental consent is a significant "burden." But is Planned Parenthood a "state actor?" Let's see: $363 million a year in federal funding. Yep.
So there's (yet) another reason to de-fund PP - lest the federal government fund a due process violation.
