Sullivan and the Beast
We don't traffic in gossip and conspiracy theories here at Ricochet, but I can't be the only one who's wondering why, exactly, Andrew Sullivan is packing up and moving to the Daily Beast. In honor of Andrew, I'm waiving the rules on gossip and conspiracy theories, just for this thread. If he takes exception, all he has to do to put the persistent rumors we're about to start to rest is provide documentary evidence that we're wrong. Can't be fairer than that, can you?

Remind me never to cross you, Claire. I did buy TINA in the end, honest!

Tina: “A rarity, he is willing to admit mistakes and change positions (sometimes radically) in the face of new evidence.” Absolutely brilliant. I wonder how she would describe Charles Johnson.
As for conspiracy theories: The Rand Corporation, in conjunction with the saucer people, under the supervision of the reverse vampires, are forcing [Andrew Sullivan] to go to [The Daily Beast] in a fiendish plot to eliminate the meal of dinner.
We’re through the looking glass, here, people...

Re: Sullivan and the Beast
How is it that a person of so little actual accomplishment attracts such attention?

The Daily Beast offered an obstetrics & gynecology residency.

Re: Sullivan and the Beast
Bjarni, we do not mock Charles Johnson on this site. Certainly not in a Claire thread (no matter how wide she leaves the door). That'll get you booted into the Outer Darkness, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I'm sure the Koch brothers had something to do with this.

Re: Sullivan and the Beast
The metaphors in Sullivan's life provide fodder for some of the snarkiest material ever. Fish in a barrel. Used to read him religiously, he is very erudite but became crazier and crazier as time went on and I imagine there were many like me who just couldn't continue. Maybe when he started in on Jonah....that could have been the point of departure.
I'll pass on the opportunity to make fun of someone who is smarter, more depraved, and vastly better educated.

Re: Sullivan and the Beast
The man cannot hold down a job to save his life. I did not make it as far as the Jonah stuff. He is the NASCAR of the columnist schtick, they watch to see who he is going to try to bump into the wall next. No yellow flags recognized there.

I was talking about the Green Football as I know of no other Charles Johnson.

Just a few little things the Sullivan could clear up if he doesn't mind:
All unanswered charges are true.

Re: Sullivan and the Beast
So Sullivan is leaving The Atlantic and going to The Daily Beast? That move will raise the average level of sanity in both places.
