From Reuters this morning:

Hoping to lift sagging confidence in President Barack Obama's economic leadership, the White House will make the case on Wednesday that his policies are creating jobs and spurring private investment.

A report to be unveiled at 11 a.m. EDT will estimate that Obama's $862 billion economic stimulus package, which passed last year, has saved or created 3 million jobs and is on track to meet its goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of this year.

Why the modesty? With fully equal validity, the White House could easily claim that the stimulus has "saved" 10 million, or 15 million, jobs. Shoot -- if I bought that, I'd be pretty ready to believe that the stimulus saved us from a jihadist take-over, too. Coulda happened, you know -- but it didn't. Thank the stimulus. And has anyone noticed that since the passage of the stimulus bill there have been NO Category 5 hurricanes to make landfall on the North American continent? Coincidence? I think not.

No, Steve, it was me who saved the other 7 to 12 million jobs and prevented the cat 5 hurricanes. You don't believe me? You're just spoiled and impatient.

Oops, I botched the link.

"...spoiled and impatient."

But you know what, without the stimulus it would have been much worse!
