I'm all with James Lileks about air conditioning. But only for the living. Unless I'm in a morgue.

Here in Connecticut (or anywhere on the East Coast, really), it feels like we're slowly being cremated. We don't have AC -- certainly not because we're hyperconcerned for the enviro -- but because it's mad expensive on the electric bills. I need a little of that LIHEAP action. Best quote I heard from some NYC woman interviewed on the radio about our heat wave: "Mother Nature is disrespecting us today!"

Ursula, pack up the family and come on over. The pool is perfect and the a/c is on.

A nice little tribute to the dead, authorized by the brain-dead.
