Starbucks Made Us Do It
As noted last week, our monthly membership fee (it's pegged to the price of a Starbucks grande caffe latte) will go up 9 cents starting tomorrow.
But if you join before midnight Pacific, you can take advantage of the current $3.58 rate.
2012 is going to be a big year, and we'd love to have you with us. Besides the conversations, live chats, private messaging, meet-ups, and premium podcast delivery, we'll soon introduce a Q&A section that we're calling "Intel." We think the Intel section will be a useful and fun way to harness the accumulated brainpower of the Ricochet Membership -- kind of a mutual aid society for fellow conservatives.
But more on that in a couple of weeks.

if you already have a membership, will renewal be at the new price?

Re: Starbucks Made Us Do It
Nope. You lock in at the price when your begin membership. At least that is my understanding of the matter.
Re: Starbucks Made Us Do It
The King Prawn is correct: renewals are at whatever level you signed up at. If Starbucks lowers its prices, though, we plan to reduce affected Membership fees accordingly.

Please, when you make another revision to the software, include a "date of last activity" field at the head of the "comments" section.
Today, when I am checking on threads in which I have an interest, I have to scroll to the end of the comments section to ascertain whether anything new has been added since last I looked at it.

M1919A4 - We completely agree that we need something like this, particularly given the living nature of our conversations. This is a high priority, but not quite as high as some of the other development initiatives we're working on. Best guess: March.

The best $3.58 (or whatever my charter member price is) I spend all month. You lose more in the couch cushions in a month, people. Sign up!

It sounds like a sting operation. Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Re: Starbucks Made Us Do It
Before joining I'd been lurking for a long time. I actually enjoy the site more now, being a member, because I've paid a little for it. Because I can post, I tend to pay more attention to the posts and I get a lot more value than I did just lurking, even if I don't post. The podcasts are great. Although I'm behind on them!

Re: Starbucks Made Us Do It
M1919A4, an imperfect way to deal with your request is to display Ricochet by "recently active," and then bookmark that URL on your toolbar.
My request is to be able display comments in reverse chrono order so that the newest ones are at the top

Logo, as a buyer of the annual membership (to avoid the volatility of the coffee market, and to save $$), is my fee grandfathered in too?
Happy new year y'all!

Happy New Year to you, too.
The $29.95 annual rate is already disconnected from coffee prices, so it will stay put for now. But we expect it will go up sometime in 2012, with $29.95 annual members getting grandfathered in.

If the world comes to an end per the Mayan calendar, will you prorate the membership fee and refund the balance?

The ad top right corner still has the $3.58 price tag. There are enough lawyers on here to fear a false advertising case...
