Noon today. Downtown Jacksonville (Florida). 250 people, maybe 300—this with no advance media, print or broadcast, that I could find. I would not have heard of it myself, except for a link I followed in Mollie’s post of the other day.
A crowd that is calm, courteous, and resolute. Determined. Priests and nuns and folks, and a sense of injury in the air.
Speakers who say the things that are expected, say them well, and the crowd cheers and waves flags and posters. After the last prayer, the closing prayer, the organizer, pictured above, says this:
“We all know that there are many more who feel the same way we do. Tell your friends. Please tell your friends.”
