From the Huffington Post, we learn that Spike Lee is just one of "many celebrities" who "have used social media to speak out against the killing of Trayvon Martin."  To be a little more precise, Mr. Lee is using social media to incite violence against George Zimmerman -- by spreading Zimmerman's home address via Twitter, with the peace-loving preface "EVERYBODY REPOST THIS" (emphasis Lee's).  (ht: Legal Insurrection via Instapundit).

Yet more evidence that the Martin episode has become a convenient excuse for a bit of mass hysteria, brought to you by the people who benefit from mass hysteria.

Adam,

I am sick to death of this trivial Hollywood cultural ethic.  Spike Lee's mentality is criminal.  The president of the united states owes George Zimmerman an apology and Spike Lee needs to be arrested for incitement to violence.

Period.

For the Progressive Left, there are no individuals. In this case, we have the persecuted black teenager everyman, and the violent white racist everyman. They're symbolic mythical creatures. What's unique about them as individuals makes no difference. Precise details of what they did, or didn't do, makes no difference. That's beside the point. It ruins the parable. But giving the shooter's address is a little different. It might provide Spike Lee's desired end of the parable.

This is lynch mob territory, and it's repugnant.  I thought Obama was bringing an end to race turmoil in America.  Evidently his constituency didn't get the message.

A simlar evil occurred years ago in Cleveland. A man was walking up his driveway with groceries at night and two teenage black thugs came up to him. Unfortunately for them, the man had a concealed pistol and amazingly drew it fast enough to kill the one teen while the accomplice fled and was quickly caught. The man, a hero to some of us, was lambasted in the press and the despicable newspaper opinion writers criticized him. His address leaked to enough people and within a week or two, he had moved, fled town for somewhere else, and not to be seen or heard from. It didn't matter that the shooting of a thug about to kill him was declared entirely justifiable. And strangely underreported, the hapless victim run out of town was a black man.

Byron,

Now you are getting to the root of the problem.  The lionization of criminality.  We have a whole society identifying with criminals not those who are unfortunate enough to be forced to stop them.  No one thinks of the courage it must of taken George Zimmerman to stop a burglary.  No one bothers to think what life will be like when there are no more George Zimmermans.

For the average liberal it's out of sight out of mind.  The old adage a conservative is a liberal who just got mugged is still very true.  However, a sick MSM in complete denial keeps manufacturing more liberals.

Regards,

Jim

I can't figure out why the President and his mob of celebrity agitators and race-baiters skipped over this little news item regarding the 13-year-old who was set on fire by two black teens for the crime of being white. Will Eric Holder investigate?

And in this case, someone literally poured gas on the fire.

Goodness what an absolutely awful story. I don't understand how the Martin situation is unique to warrant such attention when you have the previous incident or the other one posted on another feed about the Marine gunned down by SWAT agents in his home. I mean I understand certain people seem to be using for some advantage...

I see no legitimate or conceivable reason for Lee to post Zimmerman's address except to either incite violence or to intimidate. Could Lee even answer such a question rationally? For all the hype and condemnation of cyberbullying, here is a blatant example from Lee.

I agree I find the whole episode disgusting especially since I live in the county were it happened. All this false out rage by the left saying it was racist. I am disgusted that the local very popular christian music radio stations has gotten caught up in this  herd also Z88.3. When much worse violent crimes happen the media is silent about. I agree spike lee should be arrested by federal prosecutors.

DrewInWisconsin- The last line of the news item would have been enough to start a race riot..

"We were told it's a hate crime," Coon told KTLA. ( Coon is the white boy's mother) Talk about ratcheting up the racism.

Obama really knows how to start a brush fire..

Drew: something hinky about that story. But again, there's the issue of making statements before everything is known.

On the bright side, I suppose we don't have to listen to any more preening baloney about "bullying."

Worse, Ross Kaminsky over at the American Spectator is reporting the New Black Panthers are now offering a bounty of $1,000,000 for Zimmerman's "capture".

I see that Reuters is all in with the "white Hispanic" racial classification invented by the NYTimes. I expect the Duke faculty will pass around a petition today, and there will be seminars everywhere on white guilt and privilege. I know it goes against the prevailing narrative, but one must ask who broke Zimmerman's nose if not his supposed victim.

As happens with virtually every media-fueled story, the conclusions are all being drawn before the premises are discussed.

I fully admit upfront that I don't know what happened. But from past experience, the initial reports are almost always wrong.

I have a friend who's a cop. He once told me that whenever the police are called to stop a fight in a bar, there's always someone lurking out front when they arrive -- some Citizen who wants to tell the police what really happened. Usually the guy has had a few drinks, and he knows either the Puncher or the Punched. Naturally, the Citizen's story is wrong, but the Citizen is convinced that he's trying to do his duty and is telling the truth. My cop friend told me that they've learned to avoid that guy, and only the rookies pay attention to the Citizen.

And yet, when it comes to the news media, we're all rookies. We keep listening to the media's reports of what happened, despite years of evidence showing how often they get it wrong.

I'll wait until the story shakes out some more.

Expecy no justice from the DOJ. Holder and BO have made it clear that it is open season on non-blacks. The current administration is simply a black KKK. They ignore black on white crime while sensationalizing 'white' on black crime. This follows from BO's CRT ideology that 'whites'  are innately racists.

Don't expect anything to change because this has political value to BO. Notice that they emphasize 'white' while minimize the latino connection ( his mother is latina, his father is white). This is the race card in spades.
He will use this to energize his minority  base for November.

Isn't this... very, very illegal? Can I really publicly state that I will pay for the "capture" (re: unlawful detainment) of another individual? Do I really have the authority to do so?

If so. Let me be the first to say this.

Megan Fox: Wanted Alive. $50 reward.

This is clearly a joke, but in all seriousness, that can't be legal.

In MSM speak, one can be a wise latina while having the same pigmentation as this Zimmerman fella.

This president can only win with trumped up racism and white guilt.

It is clear this is his campaign.  The story/movement started rolling full speed ahead only after they had an organization in place, got the girlfriend in line with her story, AND had cleaned the youngman's image up (cleaning his Facebook, Twitter).

If George Zimmerman is white, then so is Barack Obama.
