North Korea shelled South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island moments ago. CNN has some video up with still shots from the attack. It looks like houses are on fire. Reports indicate at least 200 rounds of artillery hit the island. One hopes that South Korea and its allies will be able to keep this situation from escalating.

If the sinking of a S Korean ship earlier this year barely registered surely this will be ignored after some perfunctory condemnations. To the alert, however, it could be a harbinger of things to come when Iran gets nuclear weapons.

Mollie, Mollie! Get with the program! Obama's got a plan, and he talked to them. They said it was an accident. Quit watching Fox News so much!

You can be sure this is being taken seriously in Japan.  As C. Krauthammer said (before this happened), the chinese having been playing a dirty double game.  They officially make disapproving noises towards  NK but in reality do nothing, thinking "Any bad news for America is good news for us."

This was an unprovoked attack and violation of the 1953 armistice.  Obama will undoubtedly point to the SKA exercises that occurred and say this was a misunderstanding such as to justify inaction.  Once again, a thug will take the measure of the man and find him wanting.
