...and it's not the budget," The Daily Caller reports.

According to The Daily Caller

Renowned animal expert Jack Hanna made a trip to Capitol Hill Wednesday, visiting congressional offices with his kangaroo and two baby cheetahs — and according to Hanna, the animals “left their mark” in some very high places.

Hanna left a bunch of animals in the Appropriations Committee room where some of them decided to let Congress know what they thought of the government. Remember, animals can’t talk.

Hanna: I figure if I leave the mark of the animals that these guys will get the point, you understand what I’m saying?

TheDC: Did they leave their mark?

Hanna: Oh, yeah.

TheDC: In the Appropriations room?

Hanna: Oh, yeah.

TheDC: Who cleaned it up?

Hanna: Well, nobody yet, because I want to see how much money I get.

Talk about aggressive lobbying.

That's a much better photo-op than the guy in an aardvark costume (where does one even purchase such a costume?).

Though the ultimate counter-protest would be PETA streaking the halls of Congress.  The ensuing photographic chaos would keep that Click thing at Politico going for a month.

Hanna will never have enough animals that could collectively pile it as high as Our government does.

I'd like to know which one of our lawmakers approved Jack Hanna's Capitol Hill outing.

I am a big fan of our local Zoo and a supporter of Zoos in general.  I am not a fan of massive appropriations from DC to support them, nor am I a fan of having animals void themselves in the halls of Congress while trying to bring home pork.

This is political theater at its most absurd and it just dropped a childhood hero off of my list of those I admire.

I am genuinely heartbroken.

I will still take my daughters to our local Zoo, and support its mission of education and conservation, but Jack Hanna has lost any respectability in my mind.

Doesn't PETA hate zoos?  Why not cut the funding because of "cruelty to animals"?

Great, another jerk with a cause.
