Has anyone seen a good, in-depth analysis of what happened in Nevada? As far as I can tell, every other competitive race ended up within the range of what at least some poll had predicted within the past month or two. But I can't find any evidence that anyone at any time predicted Reid with a 5-point win. Was turnout in Las Vegas that much higher than expected? Did the union goons just do that good a job? Did Angle say something dumb in the last day or two? Or is there any substance to the sporadic reports of voting irregularities that trickled out of Nevada over the past day or two? Across all the races, the fact that this one wasn't even that close was, for me, the biggest surprise.

Yes. No question. The GOP should figure out a way to investigate every detail of the election machine of Nevada.

How does a failed leader who looks like he crawled out of a vacuum cleaner bag suddenly surge to a five point lead in the last two days?

Did Harry Reid cheat? Should it be investigated? If so, by whom? I take it as a given that there was at least some skulduggery going on. After all, this is politics. But unless investigators can find a stool pigeon, I doubt we'll find a definitive answer to the above questions. It's not like control of the Senate rests on the Nevada result. I think we're just going to have to suck it up and move on.

1. Ross Miller as Secretary of State is a longtime Soros supported SecyofState project operative.

2. They bused thousands of union workers to polls for "early voting", get the ballots collected and make sure they're "right".

3. Power outages in Clark County ? Nevada has some of the freshest infrastructure in the country, they just built the place over the last thirty years. Why not ask the county chairman what happened ? Oh, that would be Rory Reid, Harry's son.

4. SEIU in charge of all maintenance of voting machines in the state .

SEIU in possession of all voting machines in the state. These guys set the slots to payout according to the casino owners wishes, now tell us what the difference is with a voting machine ? Remember the voting machine imbroglio in years past and the discovery that slot machines and voting machines were made by the same company. Well I bet somebody else noticed that as well.

"If it's close, they'll try to steal it." How many times do we have to hear that to forget it ???

This doesn't smell right to me, either. Rory Reid loses by 12 pts yet Harry wins by 5?

You want some more smelly rotten things ?

How about Missouri House race 3rd District.. Russ Carnahan wins by 2% . His opponent was ahead all night. Votes from certain precincts late in coming in. When they finally got there, late, from the populated areas within St Louis. gosh they were heavily for Carnahan. But none of the other precincts tilted heavily in his favor .

This was a night in Missouri where we threw Ike Skelton out, denied Carnahan's sister the Senate race (she is also a Soros protege as Secy of State) and the only other successful democrat congressional races were for the two Cong Black Caucus members, Cleaver and Clay in gerrymandered strongholds of the inner city of Kansas City and St Louis. Those ballots are probably already destroyed...

In 2000, the votes came in late as they kept the polls open, the poll watchers all went home, the buses showed up and Carnahan's father was elected to the Senate, a couple of days after he had died in a tragic plane wreck.

Nevada can pose a lot of pollster problems. First, it has a highly transient population. Second, it is a nocturnal state, especially in the gaming meccas of Las Vegas and Reno. And third, since 2008 cell-phone only consumers passed landline only customers. Many refuse to use their minutes answering poll questions.

Yep. St. Louis and KC are notoriously suspect. In 2000, the votes that put Mel Carnahan over the top came in from downtown St. Louis precincts that stayed open after a St. Louis County Circuit Judge issued an emergency order forbidding them to close. The judge was a former Carnahan staffer, if memory serves.

Russ Carnahan represents the old Gephardt district, which is heavily unionized in the south St. Louis county area. The SEIU beat up Kenneth Gladney at a Carnahan rally last year. He's got a lot of foot soldiers at his disposal. Who knows, those last ballots that put him over the top may have been cast in alphabetical order.

Ok Matthew, you want to call the Secretary of State about this ? She is in charge of the voter rolls in MIssouri. Imagine that conversation .........

How about we check the ballots on the Lacy Clay or the Emanuel Cleaver victories ?

You know they had Gladney's brother fired right before Christmas last year from his city job . These people are low.

So many irregularities. Fox reported that last night a polling station in Vegas suffered a power blackout and reported results would be delayed. Then in just a few seconds Fox reported that the results would indeed be reported as scheduled. Harrah's, which owns several of the largest casinos in Vegas and Reno pressured pit bosses and other managers to get their employees to the polls...the legality of which needs investigating. SEIU is responsible for "fixing" voting machines many of which automatically had Reid selected before the voter even made a selection and some voters reported that after voting for a complete Republican ticket it changed to a complete Democrat ticket. Bottom line - Reid had been trailing Angle in the polls by 2 points for at least a week before the election then wins by 5 points...that's a 7 point swing or 3 points beyond the margin of error... not that that hasn't happened before...but what are the odds?

That was actually a tongue-in-cheek reference to the "three governors" fiasco in post-WWII Georgia that elevated Herman Talmadge after his father died. (It's a fascinating and funny story - just Google "Georgia three governors".) Talmadge was elected when someone found a "lost" box of ballots in his hometown. All the ballots were for Talmadge and, by legend, they were cast in alphabetical order (apparently secret ballot meant something different back then). A former colleague of mine wrote an article about it for the Georgia Bar Journal several years ago. Entertaining stuff.

Regarding Cleaver, though, doesn't a 9-point victory for him seem awfully close? I was surprised to see more than token opposition.

We are taking the fight to the Carnahans.

As for the alphabet, I think Duval County (So Texas) brought in their results that way one time, maybe it was ballot Box 13, 1948. LBJ winner.

Now back to Nevada.

"token opposition" ?? how racist..

Go get 'em. After reading the article, though, Martin needs to be better organized than he seems to be. I'm concerned that there's no apparent involvement by the state GOP or the RNCC. He also doesn't seem to be lawyered up, which he will need to do soon if he wants to make a serious challenge in the South County vipers' nest. See Professor Epstein's post from yesterday.

We should think about asking the Hunts ( but they have shied away from politics since old HL i bet). Looks like they know how to get certain things straightened out !! 5-2
