Beneath this post you can read about the myriad ways the world is going to hell in a hand basket. It's become increasingly possible that the Visigoths will be making an appearance at the gates soon. Although I wanted to lay off the music for a while and let others have a turn, after listening to this for the 8th or 9th time today, and after reading all the really bad news that's coming like machine gun fire, I thought I'd share this for its beauty and perspective. Enjoy!

"...and the gates of Hell shall not prevail..."  You made my day with this much needed and timely perspective.  Thank you!

Prawn - thank you very much for posting this.  I actually intended to the other day but got sidetracked.  Not sure whether you're aware of this or not, but Peter Hollens was the co-founder of On The Rocks - the group from the UO that I posted earlier this week.  His wife Evynne founded Divisi, the women's group from UO.  You could say that they're the driving force behind the thriving a cappella movement in Oregon.

The Hollens (along with Courtney Jensen - beat boxer from last year's The Backbeats) have worked with my daughter's High School group Soul'd Out in several sessions over the past year.  Lovely people as well as being insanely talented.

Here's Peter's latest - note that this was recorded with him performing ALL of the vocal parts.

At Saturday night mass tonight, the junior vicar, who is always enthusiastic but not often inspiring, gave a homily that related to the troubles we face and it resonated with that simple but profound spiritual. I was moved by that sermon and by this video/song/posting. Sometimes I don't hear God speaking until....

These guys are amazing!  I used to sing a capella professionally, but these people are off the charts talented.  Thank you for sharing, Dave.

I listened to a bunch more of him, and of the Swingle Singers, and thought this one was by far the most interesting piece. For vocal arrangements, it's right up there with Take Six. Thanks for posting.

I've listened to it more than 20 times this weekend, and I don't think I'm done finding things in it. I've yet to listen just to the bass line all the way through without getting distracted by something else.
