So, thoughts?

Tonight -- or last night, depending on when you see this -- we tried a little experiment. We live-blogged, with everyone who wanted, the midterm elections.
From my perspective, it was a great success. But what do you think? Should we do more of them? Any adjustments you'd like us to make?

Well, it wasn't a joke, actually. He actually made a spur of the moment play on words based on a few comments. It was funny, of course, and very mild, but I pretended to be scandalized and Rob apologized, like I was the Mother Superior in the room and he didn't see me there. I felt a bit bad about it. · Nov 3 at 6:02am
What? Ursula! That's all part of the act: you pretend to be scandalized, I pretend to be chastened.
No need to feel bad -- ever! · Nov 3 at 10:19am
Okay, thanks, Rob. I feel better. But you know me. I'm never happy unless I'm fretting about something. All part of my wimpy profile. (Smiley-face inserted here, but won't do it because I know you hate them and I wouldn't want to worry that you stopped being my friend because I used a smiley face in a Rico post.)

Re: So, thoughts?
Another suggestion, Rob. Make every election night have as fun results as this one did. Improves the party atmosphere. So take care of that for us. Enlist the Busy System Admin if you must. Like Winston Wolf, he's the fixer.
Cept we want eighty more seats next time.

I twice had my Barney Frank joke typed out but erased it both times - just trying to kleep it kleen. I made myself laugh anyway.
You'll have to schedule a Ricochet soiree in Minneapolis if you want to hear it...

Re: So, thoughts?
I hate to alarm you, but I would attend the one in Minneapolis. Homeland Security will prevent me from bringing any decent single malt and Lileks will distract the embassy staff while you tell the joke.

Re: So, thoughts?
Some of the miscreants may prefer to hide behind the fleeting and temporal aspect of the chatroom but is there an archive of the stream that you could put up? I wasn't able to keep up with the feed with my wood-fired dial-up modem and would enjoy seeing what I missed.
Re: So, thoughts?
First off, thanks to everyone for stopping by and contributing. It was a lot of fun!
A few thoughts: We didn't want to put on a text version of the podcast where the contributors talk (or type) and the members watch. We wanted it to be inclusive with everyone on as equal footing as possible, so we (or more accurately, I) approved all comments as they came in, pretty much in real time.
As we grow, that may not be feasible in the future, and we may have to throttle the comments more than we did last night. But that will be a good problem to have.
We'll also look into putting up the transcript.
I'm also happy to report that after last night, I can now finally cross watching MSNBC with Ann Coulter off my bucket list.

Agreed. It would be nice to revisit the mayhem. And, Allan: someone ate the goldfish.

My friend, that was an awesome job you did. I can't imagine having to vet those all night and then letting us hanging around to chat for extra time.

No, but like Mark Steyn, I live in an undisclosed location somewhere on the the confluence of the Manitoba, Ontario and US borders with my nose pressed up against the glass. I find the lack of GPS coordinates makes it easier to dodge javelin missiles hurled at me by the female Ricochet constabulary.

You're getting warmer. I have a Bond style submersible lair in a fresh water body somewhere in NW Ontario.

For those that are interested, a transcript of the chat is available here.

Re: So, thoughts?
Loved the chat! Just like a real party, I was in and out of the flow. In fact, I had a 50 minute flight in the middle but was able to navigate right back into the conversation.
The technology worked well for me. I started on blackberry browser, moved to Safari browser on mac, and bounced back and forth between them.
The energy was captivating. Please do it again. THANKS.

Re: So, thoughts?
I am amazed how even on rereading the 883 Codex Chatticus how the energy level and chaos has been preserved. And, if EJHill is in a photoshopping mood, I think the outbreak of drinking jokes was strangely reminiscent of the cigarette prop in Its a Mad, Mad World

We won't need the single malt, the official drink of RicoSoiree is the Sticky Toad

Rob Long: Okay, got it. More flexibility with chatrooms, bigger type, but not too many chatrooms, and let's do it again (but not too often...)
The members have spoken. Duly noted and next time we'll do our best to implement this stuff.
Oh, and some fun stuff is in the pipeline.... · Nov 3 at 10:16am
And more snackfood. My table ran out several times and FeliciaB is not a person to be trifled with. · Nov 3 at 10:28am
You know, Kitty, I had a nickname in college... Ferocia. And no one would ask me out on a date <sniff, sniff> Aaaaa. Who cares. I got me a man now. But he's not allowed to call me Ferocia. It's usually "yes, Dear" or "yes, my Love." He is stuck with me until he's 113. That's when our marriage contract allows him to be released to death, poor guy.

Does he enter a free agency year when he's 114? Or does he immediately go on waivers?

Re: So, thoughts?
I would have thought "The Divine Miss Felicia" may have been an authorized term, but perhaps not. I just looked up my followers and under my profile it lists "US Special Forces".
