At the Center for a New American Security, Abu Muqawama has finally broken down and put it like this

For starters, anyone confused by Hizballah's relations to Amal would do well to think of Hassan Nasrallah as Marlo Stanfield and Nabih Berri as Avon Barksdale. The Stanfield crew never really destroyed the Barksdale crew -- they never really needed to. They just fought a series of conflicts and gradually displaced them as time went on. They're all West Side guys, just one crew is leaner and meaner than the other, and those who never grew comfortable with the new power order -- the Bodie's of Lebanon, if you will -- were eventually dealt with.

We have a number of Turkish members here on Ricochet. I leave it to them to explain Turkey in terms of the Sopranos. Consider particularly, Turkish friends, whether Adnan Polat may best be explained in terms of Georgie Santorelli. I say yes.

I am just hoping that Brother Muzone is deep for Mossad.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.

I was really hoping for a lively "Which Turkish politician is which character from the Sopranos" conversation, but I guess they're all so much like them that no one here wants to come out and play this game.

I'm with the Turkish members. I never watched any of that stuff, either. In fact, if Rob doesn't tell us very clearly when his new pilot is broadcast, I guarantee I'll miss that, too. Televisions are for watching elections, hockey games, DVDs, and babysitting.

Jump to the Godfather films and still no go. Gangster films are less entertaining when you've been in the room with it.

Maybe the Allied General Staff, WWII? The White House Plumbers?  SG-1?  House? Larry Niven's Known Space? Band of Brothers? Dr. Who? Classical Greece or Rome? Silicon Valley? Star Trek/Wars? John Wayne movies? Humphrey Bogart movies? Cary Grant movies? Spencer Tracy movies? David Kahane stories? Laurence of Arabia?

It's a cruel analogy, but I think that Ahmedinijad and the Mullahs have been watching "Hung" a little too often.

And do you think that Hillary can ever step into Stringer Bell's shoes now that Holbrooke is dead ?
