So Much to Celebrate; So Little Time!

This is a big anniversary week in my life. My first day as the new host of the then-NBC daytime game show Wheel of Fortune was exactly 29 years ago today; this Friday marks the 21st anniversary of my marriage to Lesly; and it was 41 years ago this coming Saturday that my U.S. Army tour in Vietnam came to an end. I thought about trying to combine all the events into one celebration, but when you throw in New Year’s Eve and our daughter’s 16th birthday on January 5, the sheer size of the cake would be overwhelming. So I guess we’ll take them one at a time. Cheers!

Huge week! Congratulations, Pat! We're so glad to have you here.
A question about Wheel: After my family finished our enormous Christmas feast, we shuffled into the family room and fell into food comas. I woke up several hours later to Wheel on the television. The set was decorated for Christmas, and the puzzles were Christmas-themed, and you thanked everyone for joining you on Christmas. But there's no way you taped that any time close to Christmas, right? I told my family that I'd guess it was filmed some time in July....

Congratulations Pat. I've watched every single episode (just go with it) of "Wheel" and not once have I seen you land on Bankrupt when you give the wheel a final spin. You're just scary good is the only conclusion I can draw.

Thanks, Craig. As for missing the Bankrupts, I will always miss them just as long as there are competent editors.

Not July...more like October. What makes things really strange is that we don't necessarily tape in order, so we frequently jump from, say, Christmas shows one day to Halloween shows the next. It helps explain my constant state of confusion. And thanks for the nice words, Diane. I'm happy to be a part of this.

And what TROUSERS would you wear to that party?

Pat -- congrats on the multiple anniversaries. Much as I would thanks Sesame Street for providing countless hours of entertainment for my kids, I'm thanking you for distracting my mother-in-law for 30 minutes, six nights a week.
And who knew about your politically oriented writings? I'm loving it!
Good luck.
