Shotgun Bowling

Wonderful sports they have down in the Lone Star state. Last week, while I was in Tyler, Texas for a wedding, I was introduced to the game of shotgun bowling. It's pretty simple, really. You assemble a set of bowling pins a good distance away (about 20 yards or so) and shoot them down with a shotgun.
How'd I do? About as well as I do in a game of normal bowling. Is there such a thing as bumper shotgun bowling?

You're never going to make it politics, Diane. You're supposed to shoot reindeer or moose. And gut 'em.

Shotgun bowling? First I've heard of it, but it sounds fun!

Re: Shotgun Bowling
If you aim the shotgun straight up, you can play shotgun basketball. Helmets are recommended for that.

A few of the wedding attendees went hog huntin' one of the nights we were there. Maybe I should have gone along to beef up my 'real American' creds.

Re: Shotgun Bowling
Try 00 Buck in 3 1/2 Magnum with a full choke at 20 yards. Aim for the lead pin and it should get you a strike. :-)

If you want it to be deemed compliant with the RCoC you will have to substitute the collected works of John Maynard Keynes. We take our literature seriously, even at sea.

Re: Shotgun Bowling
Was there any subliminal message involved about a "shotgun wedding"? The juxtaposition of the events seems so coincidental.....

Re: Shotgun Bowling
A few rounds of that will get you a sore shoulder, too. Won't a 2 3/4 in No. 4 or 6 shot, get you the same result with a lot less pain? If you want to have some real fun, try it with the short slugs or buckshot made by Aguila; they will not cycle in any automatic or pump (that I know of), but they work fine in a double or single. Less punishment for the shooter and not much difference in result, I think.

I have no idea what gun I used, but I still have a 3-inch diameter bruise just below my shoulder.

My office is in Tyler and I can't say I've seen shotgun bowling. But it sounds like a hoot. I'll keep my eyes open.

Are you trying to knock down all the pins or just one of them?

Do you know what kind of night vision they used? That could be very expensive. A friend of mine in Texas said their Girls Night Outs are often at the shooting range, so I'm not surprised there's some activity like this going on there, too. I love Texans.

Ms. Ryan, is the technical term for your role at Ricochet ArmsMaster, Secretary of Defense, or Armory Chief? I defer to your judgement. My New Year's resolution was to get more street cred at intersections, and your knowledge is critical in helping me achieve that.

Sweet! But, where would you mount the gun?
