Server Migration Complete
If you can see this, you are reading Ricochet from new servers. I hope the experience is noticeably faster for you!
As usual, though, expect some bumps along the ride. If you see anything egregiously out of line, please feel free to contact us at support@ricochet.com-- or just use the Help link at the bottom of the site.
Please note that some pages will still load slowly at times. The speed improvements we have implemented are mostly due to better caching. But not all pages can be cached all the time; when you load a page that is not cached, it may be slower. Our hope is that most pages will load much faster most of the time.

Just testing.
Re: Server Migration Complete
Testing from iPad. It looks like every comment now hits the contributor feed. The site is humming along with much snappier performance. Well done, BSA!

Re: Server Migration Complete
I can't seem to search for anything. Or perhaps I should say, I can use the search function, but it yields no results (when I know that there should be results). Is this in any way connected to what you were doing?

Re: Server Migration Complete
I'm trying to see if I can actually comment. I haven't been able to do so from my home computer in days. I'm now thinking, thanks to Lucy Pevensie, that Internet Explorer is the problem. I downloaded Mozilla, and it let me sign in. Now we'll see about posting. The speed, though, is not so good. Perhaps that will also fix itself. Here's hoping!

Re: Server Migration Complete
Helloooooo Nurse! Why not test it with Animaniacs? First load of the main page never happened till I stopped it and refreshed, but that could be my ISP as much as anything.

Re: Server Migration Complete
IE 9 won't even let me sign in, just an FYI. "cross browser compatibility"

Re: Server Migration Complete
Thanks for the heads-up, Lucy. That worked for me, too. Can't sign in with IE (and when I click "forgot password" it says that it's sending an email to me, but it never arrives), but signed in with Firefox.

Re: Server Migration Complete
Yea indeed. By the way, I am sorry not to have written to Diane yet to send you an email address. I've been swamped and traveling, but will do so today.

If there ’s picture of John Wayne next to this post, I didn’t put it there.
OK, the Duke disappeared.
second edit: Still pretty darn slow if you ask me.

Re: Server Migration Complete
It works signing in on Google Chrome, but it won't keep me signed even if I hit the button.

Ducatista If there ’s picture of John Wayne next to this post, I didn’t put it there. OK, the Duke disappeared. I was just watching what you were doing. Seems to be working fine with Android phone. (except still can't use quote.)

Re: Server Migration Complete
By the way, BSA, minor glitches aside, the whole thing seems to be working smoothly and fast. Thanks.

Re: Server Migration Complete
Page loading is as slow as ever. I guess you can migrate those servers all over the East Coast, but by the time the intertubes get out to California, they're all clogged up.
Just took me 30 seconds to open this comment back up for an edit...

Re: Server Migration Complete
I told you the ride would be a bit bumpy. Right now the new servers have a bit of an unexplained load spike. Things seem to be fast, then they slow down a bit, then the servers recover and it gets fast again.
And yes, as I write this, I see Basil Fawlty's avatar in place of mine. This is a caching issue we dealt with before and probably did not solve in the proper way. Instead we ended up dialing the caching back quite a bit, which is part of why the site was slow. We will solve it in the next few days-- I already have one potential solution in mind.
IE8 gives login problems from time to time. IE9 is known to have other issues, as well.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

Re: Server Migration Complete
No joy logging in with IE9, either. I can log in with Firefox 4, but the session is terminated if I close the browser and restart it. It's then a slow process to log in again.
