If you can see this, you are reading Ricochet from new servers.  I hope the experience is noticeably faster for you!

As usual, though, expect some bumps along the ride.  If you see anything egregiously out of line, please feel free to contact us at support@ricochet.com-- or just use the Help link at the bottom of the site.

Please note that some pages will still load slowly at times.  The speed improvements we have implemented are mostly due to better caching.  But not all pages can be cached all the time; when you load a page that is not cached, it may be slower.  Our hope is that most pages will load much faster most of the time.

Main page loads more quickly.  So far, so good;  let's see how fast this comment posts.

That comment above posted much faster than the old site--about 6 seconds.  Great!

Thanks!  I need to crash now.

There are a few bugs on the site that I'm aware of, but nothing really major yet.

Just testing comments :-) ... Even the site is already a lot faster, it will become even faster in the next phase.

Very well done BSA. Please feel free to take the rest of the next 15 minutes for a nap.

Good job. It's about twice as fast this morning at 7:35 Eastern.

Just one problem: Every time I go into an article to comment I have a different person's picture where mine should be.  This is a test comment to see if my picture shows up when I comment.

It worked.  And the posting time was much faster too, around 5 seconds.

I think i need stronger coffee. Glancing at the title, I thought it said, "Severe Migration..." and wasn't sure how it could get any worse. Going for the I.V. drip now...

Yep,  it's faster all right.   Thanks for keeping the improvements coming.  Now if we can only get Kenneth to be civil when SP is mentioned.  6:06 AM Mountain Time.

I just saw that too.  My picture was replaced by another member's.  A tiny bug, but a little disconcerting.

My regular picture shows up once the comment is posted, though.  Interesting.

Suggestions:

1) The page numbers for comments on threads could be at the top as well as the bottom, so when returning to a discussion one can resume directly where one left off without scrolling to the bottom of the comments on that page.

2) The Headers: Main Feed   Head Lines   Member Feed   etc could be repeated at the bottom of the page

Looks faster, even from Kazakhstan. On the iPad. I'll be back in the USA Sunday night, looking forward to seeing the site on my computer.

Hmm. I too have another member's picture (a very glamorous one--thanks, Diane). I gather you all will see my own profile picture when I hit "post comment". I do have another issue, which may or may not be related to server migration. As of last night, I can't sign in while using Internet Explorer or stay signed in as long as I used to on my Android phone. I managed to sign in using Firefox; we'll see if it kicks me out as well.

Here's an oddity: when I hit "quote" on this thread, I get the usual blue box and quotation.  But when I hit "quote" on another thread (the Chris Christie climate change one), nothing happens.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.

Well done, BSA. I'm just checking in now, and so far, so good.

Dave Carter

Lucy, that's because Christie hasn't quite worked out his position on climate change. No worries, it'll be sorted out soon.

Oh, and I seem to have been promoted! I look over to the right and my comments are listed under Contributor Feed!
