Rob beat me to the punch in posting about the buzz around Congressman Tim Scott possibly being named to succeed Jim DeMint as South Carolina's junior senator. So is he up to the job? Watch this interview from earlier this year (at the Heritage Foundation, ironically) and judge for yourself:

Um ... sold.

Awesome. Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio take note on the above video: no boilerplate response to any question.

Conservatism thick , pure, and sweet as honey.

Impressive command of the issues and articulate on policy and values. Sounds like Senate material to me.

How does he do with a more hostile interviewer?

I hope the answer is: Hulk Smash.

Boy, I am having a serious political man crush right now.  Or maybe its just that thrill that Chris Matthews used to suffer from.

Rep. Scott gave a wonderfully articulate conservative exposition in that interview.  I'm sold.

So what's really going on is that Jim DeMint came up with a brilliant new way to re-enthuse conservatives.  (So long as Nikki Haley cooperates.)

Tim Scott's my congressman and he's the real deal. He'd make a great Senator. I wonder if Mark Sanford would be interested in his seat ;-)

If Tim Scott is appointed, his first actual election will be battleground #1 for all the left wing groups and especially the unions.  They will lie, cheat, steal and spend whatever sum of money they can to make sure there is not a black republican senator.  It breaks all their narratives and he must be stopped.  Just look at Mia Love and Allen West.  The racist left spent millions and used every trick in the book to make sure they lost.  Tim Scott had better be clean and ready for a battle.  I am not optimistic when you have a true warrior like Allen West and the most likable, articulate, energetic and lovely candidates like Mia Love who just lost because the left targeted them with everything they had.  Good luck Tim Scott. We will fight with you.  You better be ready for the fight.

I wish I could vote for this man.  If we are lucky, one day he will run for president and then I can!!
