Is President Obama's spendaholic fiscal policy a misguided attempt to revive our economy or a stratagem to lay the groundwork for further leftist societal transformation? While the president's inner life is unknowable to us, his Treasury secretary inadvertently supports the social transformation argument.  Watch this telling exchange between Tim Geithner and Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

That's unbelievable.  Geithner as much as says, "we didn't have the political courage to submit a sustainable budget; we're hoping you guys'll do it."

Once Geithner admitted that the budget the administration had submitted was unsustainable, Senator Sessions should have asked for his resignation. The grounds for such a demand are clear: dereliction of duty.

In addition Senator Sessions should have asked the Treasury Secretary if this was the reason he came to Washington - to play political games with the nation's finances.

It's high time to stop pussy-footing around and to confront these frauds, who offer unworkable rigamarole that even they concede is a travesty of finance and then haughtily ask, "Well, what's your plan?"

"Have you no shame, Mr. Geithner?"

Exactly!  However, his unspoken end to that statement is "and when you do it, we will demagogue the issue until the public thinks you're trying to destroy the very fabric of America."

I think this interchange between Geitner and Sessions sums up one of the crucial battles of the next 20 months.

Question, who is more shameless:  Geitner presenting and defending a budget he claims is unsustainable and then demanding congress "fix" it; or Pelosi complaining that the republicans haven't addressed the budget yet when she never even brought one out of committee?

Obama is lying so bad, his subordinates cannot even fake it. First the new press secretary now Geithner. For heaven sakes they are in politics, it’s their job to lie.

A man. A plan. Pandemonium.

1.  Provoke a constitutional crisis by overspending.

2. Argue that the constitution is no longer relevant to our "modern" problems.

3. Seize power.

It's even worse than you think, PJ.  Remember, as Geithner is asking the Republicans to have the will to do better, his boss is threatening to veto the House plan to cut current year spending by $61 billion.  The position seems to be, yeah we know this budget will destroy our country, but you have to enact it or else.

This is more evidence to back what Peter Robinson said in the podcast.  Obama has released this sham, "unsustainable" budget so that he will be able to use it as a cudgel against the Republicans when they come in with lower numbers.

This intent is obvious as Geithner admits that they don't expect it to have any chance of passing..."With the President's plan, even if Congress were to enact it, even if Congress were to hold to it...we would still be left with...unsustainable obligations over time."

He then baits the hook by asking..."What's the alternative plan?"

It is patently obvious that this budget is nothing more that a pile of peanuts placed in the elephant trap, with the intent of affording the President the ability to roll out every last sob story he can find to "prove" how budget cuts will ruin the lives of the American people.

I wasn't so sure when Peter argued it on the podcast....but now I know it to be true.  Peter was right....
