CHICAGO—With campaign rhetoric becoming increasingly heated and both presidential nominees releasing more attack ads, a new 30-second spot from the Obama campaign this week accuses his opponent Mitt Romney of committing the 1996 murder of 6-year-old beauty pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey.

“I think this is a fair ad, and I think Mitt Romney owes an explanation to the American people as to why he murdered JonBenét Ramsey,” said Obama campaign manager Jim Messina, who called the commercial’s black-and-white reenactment of Mitt Romney carrying a kicking and screaming child to her death “accurate.” “Ultimately, voters need to know who they’re getting with Mitt Romney: a job- and child-killing businessman who is so deceitful he won’t release his tax returns or admit to a senseless murder that shook the nation to its core.”

(Oh, I did mention that this comes from The Onion, didn't I?)

Between this and the "Paul Ryan scares the [profanity] out of the Democrats" piece the Onion also wrote, one has to wonder what's going on over their with the editorial staff. Usually they're just as liberal as the Daily Show.

This of course is merely another distraction from the real question: can Mitt Romney have anyone reliably account for his whereabouts when JFK was shot? The public deserves an answer.

Even the Onion knows Obama will lose.  Look at their 2008 articles and you won't see a thing like this.

With all due respect to one of the founding fathers of Ricochet, this post was neither warranted or humorous in the least. Let The Onion enjoy themselves; I pay $3.67 a month so I don't have to read this.

This will be a tough election, for we now have two murderers on our ticket, between Paul Ryan pushing the elderly to their deaths and now the double-murdering Mitt Romney.

I think The Onion is just trying to lure us in and pretend that they are neutral, kind of like some of those fact-checking websites that appear balanced, develop a reputation, and then swing hard to the left just before the election.

Shame on both of you.  We get it that you're both trying to prove how much you really care and that you're more sensitive to crimes against children than anyone else here.

Conversations ought to err on the side of good humor rather than a contest of sanctimonious one-upmanship.  Peter Robinson posted a perfectly good piece that referenced a joke.  The premise of that joke was the absurdly brazen manipulation of facts by the democrats to suggest that Romney's actions caused a woman to die of cancer.  Point of humor: absurdly brazen manipulation of facts.  It wasn't a child's abduction for the purposes of titillation.  CONTINUED...

...CONTINUED

The fact that neither of you shed a tear for that poor woman's passing in either of your comments shows just how insensitive you are to cancer deaths.  I've lost family members to cancer!  You're both monsters!

I'll cut to the chase for you both-- it's about you.  You got your attention.  God forbid anyone be allowed to enjoy good satire (which the Onion piece was) when there's an opportunity for someone to prove how much more holy they are than everyone around them.

Good post, Mr. Robinson.  Please don't let the hoots from the moral grandstand deter you from posting similar pieces in the future.

Incidentally, if either of you is going to attempt to post something about how crimes against children are a personal issue for you, you're doubling down on your error.  That's not what the joke was about.  Also, it reinforces my point that you're trying to make it about you because you're intentionally misinterpreting the premise so that we can talk about you instead of the subject at hand (e.g. Democrat dirty tricks).

See the first paragraph of my second post to understand how your 'Sharia-style' approach to humor comes across to the non-solipsists.

The Onion did produce this gem almost four years ago. It goes from great to awesome at about the 2 min. mark.

By the way, is there a way to embed video if you're not the original poster?

Thin skin is a liberal trait.  Conservatives know that life is more than political combat.
