Romentum

Some key takeaways from today’s news:
- The race in Ohio is tied, with movement towards Romney.
- Barack Obama leads Romney in Minnesota, but the race is within the margin of error.
- Andrew Sullivan continues to make a mockery of himself. More here. Memo to the Daily Beast: If you want to have a sandcastle’s chance in an earthquake of being taken seriously as a news publication, fire Andrew Sullivan. And don’t disguise the fact that you are firing him.
- The Gazette, the Des Moines Register, and the Quad-City Times all endorse Mitt Romney for president, which means that all four major Iowa newspapers are backing Romney. The Des Moines Register, it should be noted, hasn’t backed a Republican for president since 1972. More on the Des Moines Register’s endorsement here; note that while Mitt Romney was brave enough to grant the newspaper an on-the-record interview, Barack Obama wasn’t. See also Joe Escalante's piece below; he is quite right in noting that this is a very big deal.
Bottom line: Team Obama has lots of reasons to be worried. Team Romney has lots of reasons to be encouraged.

The news out of Florida is not as good as I would like.

The GOP GOTV afterburner will be Benghazi, and Obama did build that!

Re: Romentum
Imagine a tv network actually having someone like Andrew Sullivan on a panel on Sunday morning, in front of the whole country ? Have I missed something or has the bar been lowered or just tossed out the window in favor of deliberate provocation from the fringe ?
I watched Sullivan go insane during the Bush administration , it was pretty strange .

Having read that article, I still like our chances in Florida.

Re: Romentum
Watching This Week today was reminiscent of watching the vice-presidential debate. Andrew Sullivan was perpetually irritating and interruptive. He seemed inclined to making completely ludicrous points; his buffoonery was only matched by George Will's gentlemanly patience.
Having said that, Newt was brilliant. I guess I'm not the only one here who thinks he would make a brilliant press secretary.

Re: Romentum
I see the RCP average for Romney is +0.9 but that includes data back to the 15th. If Romney is gaining momentum lets compare data from this last week to the weeks previous. This gives Romney +1.75 for the last week compared to Romney +0.3 the previous week and Romney -1.0 the week before that. Also noticed Romney seems to be leading in the surveys with the larger sample sizes.

Re: Romentum
The RCP average also includes polls with D oversamples of 11 points, and that overstate turnout by 20 points.
It's not reliable, no matter what the Self-Anointed Elites in the media tell you.

"Andrew Sullivan continues to make a mockery of himself."
This is a bit, right? Like a "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead" kind of thing?

Allow me to assuage your fears.
Re: Romentum
No. The latter statement is less obvious.
